This starts tomorrow and I am really looking forward to it. I love the tennis majors. :icon_mrgreen:

In the men's event it looks like a 3 horse race. Federer, Djokovic or Murray. Novak Djokovic has got the best draw of the big 3, he is in the bottom half of the draw while Federer and Murray are both in the top half. The big names in Djokovic's half of the draw are David Ferrer, Juan Martin Del Potro and Janko Tipsarevic. Ferrer isn't at his best on hard courts, Del Potro has an ongoing wrist injury and Tipsarevic isn't in the same class as Djokovic. So Nole looks good for a place in the final.

If Andy Murray reaches the QF's then he will probably face Jo-Wilfred Tsonga. If he beats Tsonga then he'd likely have to face Federer in the SF and Djokovic in the final.

Roger Federer has a smooth run through to the last 8 where he might have to play Tomas Berdych. I wouldn't see any problems for Federer there. In the semi-final he'd probably be playing Murray or Tsonga which would be tougher and then probably Djokovic in the final.

(This is all assuming things go to form of course :icon_mrgreen:)

In the women's event, Serena Williams has got a fantastic draw. She is in the bottom half of the draw whilst Maria Sharapova, Victoria Azarenka, Petra Kvitova, Li Na and Sam Stosur are all in the top half of the draw! The only potential banana skin I can see for Serena is in the 3rd round where she might have to play Ekaterina Makarova. Makarova beat her at this year's Australian Open.

My money has gone on Serena Williams in the women's singles and Roger Federer in the men's singles. Serena's draw is too good to ignore and I just feel that Novak Djokovic hasn't been at his best lately. Federer has taken care of him fairly comfortably the last couple of times they have played.

*Another good bet is for the men's final to be Roger Federer vs Novak Djokovic. You can get 7/4 on that right now.

Who do you guys fancy to win?

Hopefully after the gold medal its gave him the confidence to go on and win this. He plays his best tennis on hard court.

I think it will be either Murray or federer who wins this. Djokovic hasn't been the same since the French final.

Andy Murray plays Alex Bogomolov Jnr. in the 1st round tomorrow. The match is scheduled to start around 6.05pm.

*Tomorrow's value bet - Robbie Ginepri to beat Albert Ramos @ Evens.

Gutted Nadal's not playing. I reckon Murray will win as he's the form player atm, and Nadal is the only one who could stop him. Other than the Australian Open, Djokovic has had a poor year. Federer's had a good year as well but I think Murray will be too strong for him. Really wish Rafa was fit though.

Hopefully the bold Andy M can keep it up and take the momentum from the Olympic win through to this tournament. Went to his gold post box last week to have a wee look. Plenty people there taking photos.

Djokovic won the Australian Open, reached the final of the French Open(and pushed Nadal really hard, which takes some doing on clay) and made the semis at Wimbledon. So his year has hardly been poor. It's just not been as good as the year he had last year, which was exceptionally good.

He has went far in tournaments but he's not played well in my opinion, and generally dropped a lot of sets along the way. Suppose it's the mark of a great player to win when they're not playing well. I don't really think he pushed Rafa that hard at the French, other than the set he won, I thought Nadal was comfortable. I suppose maybe I'm being harsh on him due to how good he was last year, but I've just felt watching Djokovic a lot this year that he has been a good few levels below his best. I hope he can turn it on again soon as I want to see the best players at their very best.

Would Federer play Murray in the Semis if they went the distance?

Yes - he would meet Federer in the Semi and Djokovic in the final.

Andy struggled through that match last night completely fatigued but hopefully he'll improve.

Hoping for a big performance from Fish as well when he meets Federer.

I have to admit this is the most open major I can remember in years. Before it was realistically Federer/Nadal or Nadal/Djokovic. Now it could be either of the top 3.

Is is true that a Dutch journalist asked Murray if it was more difficult to represent England or Scotland?
