50th odd minute , 3-0 down , and need someone in your team to drag the rest of the team on and to gee them up , this is what is required of a captain , but instead our one gets subbed .

there is loads of new threads opening tonight about the loss and i know where your all coming from , but surely if there is any sense left in our team and of scott brown the man has to be stripped of the captaincy as he has CLEARLY shown he is no captain on many occasions and tonight was a prime example.

one problem tho , who the * gets it ????
i think the board will do a keane or given signing to keep us happy as the same as last year and i would have no probs of giving the armband to them but , is it wrong to give a loan signinng the armband ?

our armband is as prestigious as our number 7 shirt is it not ?

It's a tricky one for sure. I suppose it can only really be judged by someone on the inside who can see any possible leadership qualities. If none of them are upto it and it has to go to a loan player so be it

surely lennon sees that we need a new captain. brown doesn't have the leadership or quality to truly wear the armband

Also, there's not much point having a captain that's got a good chance of getting sent off lol

My initial thought when he took Brown off was, we need a new captain.

I agreed with the substitution as we were more likely to get a positive out of Kayal or Juarez, but the captain should be making himself seen and heard when the team are struggling. Brown did neither. As usual he had his face in an opponents.

I've never seen a team 3-0 down and the captain being taken off...Think it's time to give up the armband Scott.

Completely agree. A new captain is definately needed, our problem is... Who can takeover from Brown? Can't believe he went off tonight, should have been making himself heard on the pitch!

we had 2 worthy captains in the team and shipped both them out Barry robson back in january and then boruc in the summer. There is not a chance in * we would get a keane/bellamy/givin signing now that the fact were out of europe. For * sake we only got the lad from newcastle because he thought hed be playing in europe. Ledly only signed because of champions league as did jaurez. This is bound to be a big kick in the teeth to them and as soon as a big club comes calling they will be away as quick as aliadiare. I just hope im wrong

ledley and juarez are as much to blame tonight for the loss , they played murder too so how they could leave to get cl football when they cant play that level is a no brainer

Scott Brown has let us down more times than he has produced for us. The man is a joke imo. He can't pass, simple five yard passes become 30 mph blasts that his teammates have to control with their chest. He can't shoot, he can't tackle, he can hardly go a game without getting booked, he can't handle the pressure and bottles it all the time. Not one fan can tell me what Brown provides to the team without using the words 'grit, determination and hunger'. I'm sorry but 60,000 fans every week would give that but, like Scott Brown, they don't have the talents to match. He talks a good game yet rarely delivers. The fact that this man is our captain symbolises how poor the past 2 season have been. He never turns up when the going gets tough, he never takes a game by the scruff of the neck. What does he do instead? Stare at opponents, shout at the ref and give away stupid fouls. He must be one of celtic's most booked players of all time. I'll never forgive him for letting us down at Ibrox in February, absolute disgrace. The only time i have seen him play well was the last 8 games of last season, when the pressure was off and no one really cared. He shouldn't be near our reserve team let alone be our captain!!!! Get rid of this useless * now!!!

its all very well saying brown shouldnt be captain (which i agree with, he should never have been thrust into it) but who the * gets it!!?? perhaps the big swedish man at the back on the simple fact hes the oldest?

to be fair to ledley he was being played out of position, as for jaurez hes been one of our star players right through from pre season, one bad game doesnt mean hes not good enough alas Larssons debut.

In fairness, I hardly think Brown can be blamed for being substituted - that was Lennon's decision. He didn't play well tonight, that's for sure - but the same goes for nearly everyone.

I don't want to do the thing of using a sore defeat as an excuse to lay into my least favourite players - and my views on Scott Brown as a player have already been well-aired on here.

But I do think we need a new captain, one who is steadfast in adversity. I've noted on a number of occasions that Broon's reaction to adversity is to get wound up and lose the plot, and tonight has done nothing except confirm that view. We need a captain who can calm things down after a setback - especially one from a dubious refereeing decision. Someone passionate sure - but someone who can control and focus their energies.

If you can't rein yourself in, how can you expect to rein in the team?

Ive said it numerous times on here that im not a fan of his but tonights display by all should be looked at and not just the Captains ,i only seen 2 players playing tonight[trying] that was Kayal and Forrest the rest gave up the ghost at 3-0 maybe before that .

Barry Robson should never have been sold. He is the definition of a captain. I would have loved to have him on the pitch tonight. Browns days are numbered. As for Ledley and Juarez coming for champions league. If they wanted it so badly they would have made sure they got it but them along with the rest of the team didn't show enough desire and only have them selves to blame. Results like this are terrible for attracting players so i can't see the likes of Keane coming.

Give it to the big swede, i think a central defender makes the better captain as they can see more of the game and the teams positioning, where as mids n strikers are constantly on the move and looking in all 4 directions alot more

Let's be honest, no one in that team tonight deserves the captaincy. Nobody showed any desire whatsoever- total embarrassment
