Scottish Football Association chief executive Stewart Regan has condemned Celtic and Rangers for causing embarrassment to Scottish football! Come of it ... IT'S THE WORST LEAGUE IN THE WORLD!

The more "off pitch" action the better, as far as we are concerned.

Hoops boss Neil Lennon and Rangers assistant manager Ally McCoist had to be separated after the game, in which the home side won 1-0 with a Mark Wilson goal.
Ibrox duo Steven Whittaker and Madjid Bougherra were sent off during the match, both for two yellow cards, and after the final whistle team-mate El-Hadji Diouf also picked up a red card for a second booking after approaching referee Calum Murray.
Stewart Regan: "The Scottish FA categorically condemns the inflammatory and irresponsible behaviour throughout the Scottish Cup replay between Celtic and Rangers at Celtic Park.
"As Chief Executive of this organisation, I was both saddened and deeply embarrassed to witness the scenes that unfolded during what is supposed to be Scottish football's flagship fixture: these images were broadcast around the world and shows our game in a poor light.
"I acknowledge the pressures of expectation on both clubs but last night's behaviour crossed the boundaries of acceptable conduct at a football match.
"We have already launched an investigation into all incidents that occurred and will do everything in our power to ensure there is no repeat.
"The events at Celtic Park, however, run deeper than the Scottish FA's Disciplinary Procedures.
"The unedifying sight of two of the country's most recognisable and respected coaches engaged in an angry confrontation was not only unsavoury but exacerbated an already incendiary atmosphere inside the stadium and throughout the West of Scotland.
"The clubs have a duty of care to ensure that the image and integrity of the game is upheld at all times.
"This was not adhered to last night. This week, Strathclyde Police reiterated their concerns over the heightening violence and public disorder around Old Firm derbies. It is incumbent on Rangers and Celtic to ensure a far more responsible level of behaviour.
"In an age of austerity and financial hardship, football must try harder than ever in this country to restore its image as the national sport, extolling pride and passion. It fails in this regard.
"Last night's actions - which culminated in three red cards and 13 cautions in total - also re-emphasised the ongoing lack of respect for our match officials."

Have to agree with Nick this doesn't speak for England, but they are literally laughing at the game on Wednesday down there.

I would love Celtic to play one of the 'big' teams and beat them. Would be rather sweet for me

 

Well, lets have a few examples of really open leagues:
Norway - Rosenborg nearly every year
Portugal - Porto or Benfica.
Spain - Speaks for itself really apart for the odd season surprise.
Finland - HJK

Ok so these are maybe not all the cream of the crop leagues in Europe but examples of who generally wins.

I would rather watch Celtic on a freezing cold night away to Aberdeen for example than any game you want to put together in England. And Newcastle, aye what a team they have.

Always remember a story that sticks in my mind of the geordie fans. Working in Newcastle near to the Gate (if anyone has been it is very busy on matchdays) and taking a delivery in. Thought I had lost track of time as there was Newcastle fans all over arguing amoungst themselves, very bad atmosphere. I thought they must of got beat or missed a last minute penalty. It turned out they were getting beat by 4 goals against Portsmouth. And the time on my watch was approx 4:10 pm. Aye some fans them Newcastle are

 

These arseholes and their constant rhetoric about the SPL is a weak argument. Just look at the EPL and La Liga and consider how many times in the last 20 years the same couple of teams have won the titles.

 

how many different teams in england have won the premier league ?? As for newcastle correct me if im wrong but they wont be winning anything soon oh wait they won the championship haha after being relegated so i dont put much stock into what they say.

 

The only league in Europe that seems to be contested by more than 2 or 3 teams on a regular basis is the German league.

also, sure Brann and Staebaek have been doing well in Norway

 

The ignorance isn't surprising, but it's unfair to tar an entire country with the same brush when that's probably only the opinion of one man/woman.

 

Newcastle are a diddy team with an inferiority complex, and are just jelous because they know that despite us playing in a * league we are still a bigger club than they could ever even dream of being

 

Not as if they can laugh at anybody else. Their league is full of embarassments. Airifles, roastings, * teammates birds, hooliganism etc

 

eh, those things depend on the individual, not the league
