I know we need defenders ie, left back and a replacement for Balde, but I sure think McFadden is a good yin! :50:

1 thread of transfer targets so we have to read through like 100 pages to find who Celtic are trying to sign? Don't think so.

    Individual player threads FTW.

McFadden is a gud player, but is he really better than Maloney, Riordan and McGeady.

The emphasis should be on the defence

Celtic poised to move for Kadlec

Celtic are pursuing their interest in Sparta Prague left-back Michal Kadlec,

The 21-year-old Czech is keen to open negotiations with the Scottish champions soon.

But it appears that Celtic boss Gordon Strachan has cooled his interest in Hajduk Split midfielder Niko Kranjcar, who is in Croatia's World Cup squad.

And Celtic sources have played down suggestions that midfielder Scott Brown could be their next signing from Hibs.

Celtic this week announced that Hibernian forward Derek Riordan has been secured on a pre-contract agreement and will play for the Glasgow club from January.

Scotland defender Gary Caldwell is making the move this summer.

But Brown remains under contract and a transfer fee would be required.

Kadlec remains under contract with Sparta, but spokesman Lukas Pribyl is on record as saying that the club would not stand in the way of a move if a "lucrative offer" was made.

Whenever i watched Hibs it was O'Connor and Brown who impressed the most but i'd be reluctant to buy any more Scottish lads, they are not of the standard we need IMO. I'm not sure why we are signings players who are not going to go straight into the first team, do we not have our own youngsters to be on the fringes? Of all the current Scots only Fletcher and Hartley would be of interest to me, the rest are not good enough. Ono certainly has technique but is meant to be injury prone. Is the old rumour that Strachan cannot work well with experienced "men" proving to be the case?

    Telfer, Camara, Baldé, Varga out.

Kadlec in at left back, McManus and Caldwell at the back and dunno about right back.

Im not too sure about Ono. He seems injury prone averaging about 20 games a season for Feyonaard in 5 years.

On the Scottish Front we have perhaps too many (if thats possible):

    -----------Marshall-----------
    Wislon McManus Caldwell Mulgrew
    ------------------------------
    -----------Lawson------------
    Riordan------------Maloney----
    ----------Pearson-------------
    ------------------------------
    ----Miller-------Beattie--------

    (Scots) Bench:
    Kennedy
    Telfer
    Rocco
    McGeady (Almost counts)
.....forgive me if i forgot anyone :p

This isnt some kind of semi-reserve select. All of these players will be vying for the first team next season.

This also leaves out people who are considered firstchoice/regulars:
    Boruc
    Balde
    Camara
    Virgo
    Lennon
    KEane
    Petrov (Going?)
    Nakamura
    Hartson
    Magic

Perhaps we have way too much players. We also need a left back (Harte or that Croatian guy to sign?) Could be quite a few leaving this summer.... (Hopefully Dublin Telfer and THompson will be first to go....

dno bout kadlec only seen him in two CL games last season and didnt lk good.1.5million is alot 2 waste agen after virgo so its a big risk but id back him.riodran will do a good job for us while caldwell is *,kennedy if fit is 5times a better player.
Id bring in Ono as Ive seen quite a bit of him from the J-League and throughout the years and is a quality player. Can tackle and is verstaile and isnt a risk. Id also get rid off Dublin,Balde,Thommo,Varga,Telfer, and Petorv for a decent fee. With this we should target a top class centre haf mabye Kuffour for a few million.

    ----------------------------Boruc------------------------------

    Kadlec-----------Kennedy-------------Kuffour--------------Wilson

    -----------------------------Keane(c)----------------------------
    ------Maloney---------------Nakamura----------------Ono--------

    --------------------Hartson?------------Zurawski----------------

Strikers may be a problem not really CL class id say there all gd SPL players. Id mabye bring in a attacking midfielder such as tht Croatian boy or D'Alessandro if we cld.Play 4-3-3 in Europe tht can go into a 4-5-1

davybhoy there is only one thing I have a problem with, you mention strikers being a problem CL wise yet you put Hartson in there?
Sorry man Hartson is FAR too slow, also I want to express something that I feel can happen, Scottish players can come into their own, I feel Miller, against Italy showed he can compete, I have every confidence in Maloney anywhere, whos to say Riordan, Beattie , cant make it in the CL?
Beattie played well in the champions tournament in the USA.
Lately I have liked what I am seeing in some Scottish players, I would pay 1.5 million for Brown, he is tough and clever enough to play against CL players.
Yes we need to get rid of wage earners that you mention, guess I cant add Hartson cause he is staying another year, easy money for him, wait and see.
