Hello, I'll graduate soon from my Swedish school and is very interested in studying abroad and in Glasgow. I'm thinking of buying a half-season card and study anywhere nearby. Anyone who has any experience of this? I mean like study one course like English for "non-englishmen" or something like that. Is there more than Glasgow University where you can study if you want anywhere nearby Celtic Park? Thankful for answer!

I study at Glasgow Caledonian mate and they have quite a good reputation for people coming over to study from abroad. I know that alot of foreigners come to Scotland to study but even I was shocked at the amount at Glasgow Cal.

It's a good university, doesn't quite have the 'historical' history that Glasgow itself does, or even Strathclyde, but the employment rate is excellent and facilities just as good IMO.

It's smack bang in the centre of the city as well near enough. There are a few other guys on the forum who study in Glasgow as well I'm sure if they see this they will give some advice, I'm only in my first year so they might know better than me!:50:

Maybe move this to the pub section someone..

I wouldn't base university choice on proximity to Celtic Park. It's easy enough to walk to from the city centre. All the uni's in Glasgow are in excellent locations. Glasgow Uni is in the west end which is geared towards students and is a pretty middle/upper class area. Strathclyde and Glasgow Caledonian uni are both in the city centre. I would expect all 3 uni's would put on courses to help international student's with English.

If you want a proper education then Glasgow Uni is your only choice.

I would disagree and that's from someone who studied at Glasgow.

Glasgow uni has the best reputation - but the best education will be dependent on individual lecturers and the student themselves. I found the lack of classroom time at Glasgow very poor and would've been * if I actually had to pay for it.

Glasgow uni has the best reputation but it really depends on what you're studying and the individual course. Strathclyde has a really good reputation for the technical and engineering subjects. Same with chemical engineering and stuff like that.

    Glasgow has the nicest campus.

What is a 'proper education'? :56:

I went to Cali and Strathclyde, both perfectly fine Universities as is Glasgow. The 'top bants planking' brigade made me think twice about going to go Glasgow but that was just a personal thing.

    What a condescending, patronising, * :56:

Accountancy at Cali, Business Law at Strathclyde. What's your qualifications, a cut out certificate from the back of a Coco Pops box?

Strathclyde has a great reputation for social subjects, applying to study History and Politics there.
