I'm personally not a fan of Strachan, i dont think he has gd man management skills and isnt suited for a club of celtic's ambition (well the fans anyway).

No doubt his head will have balooned after 'silencing his critics' on sat but I tihnk were gna b embarassed in Europe.

Plus although ppl go on about winning the league in his first season, we all kno, we wudnt have unless rangers weren't so * up till christmas and even if hearts hadnt given Burley the chop.

I see us going nowwhere with this guy and i do hope im proved wrong.

not tryin to start a big argument just wanna hear other ppls opinions on the wee man.:50:

At the moment there is nothing to complain about. Yes we got humped out of Europe really early last year but he has recovered really really well which I think speaks volumes for him. He won the league and cup when so many had written him off (probably yourself)

The team still has a fair bit to go before we will be a force in Europe but he has brought in some excellent players - Naka, Magic, Boruc. Brought through some promising youngsters - Maloney, McGeady, McManus and also brought in some exciting young talent - Riordan, Wilson and err Virgo?

He has his faults - sticking with Telfer being my main gripe but he is the man in charge and he rates Telfer and he is getting the results. The bullshit in the Ranger today about Mulgrew should not be a mark of the mans management skills. If young players are turning up late and taking the * then they should be fined, it is part of the game.

I say give Strachan time (like that is going to happen at CP).

Some people may not think he's a gods manager but he has certainly been a good manager for Celtic, i mean a league and cup double in his first season, managers get rated on results not personality which i think the majority of people rate Strachan on. Take into account what he inherited at Celtic a squad full of over paid prima donnas, all respect to MoN but he didnt exactly leave Celtic in a strong position both financially and talent wise. Strachan had to struggle through his first season with no finiancial backing from the board or proffesional backing from most of O'Neils favourites. In comparison to O'Neils first season he won 1 trophy less but didnt have the luxury of £6m players to buy or players like Larsson already at the club. Give the man a break. He's doing his best with limited resources.

The blame for us being humped out of Europe early last season was due entirely to having to play too many new players before they had a chance to know each others style of play.....In essence the game came far too early for us. Strachan hasnt done at all badly up to this point.

This years results in both the league against a surely revigorated Rangers side and against top notch opposition in the Champions League will tell us if the wee fella has what it takes to be a great Celtic manager.

In my opinion WGS is a sly fox. he knows what he is doing.

he understood it to form a spl champions side within less than one season. with all the new players coming and going, it was not an easy task.

some signings might be arguable, but dont forget, he won 2 titles with that side. and even the best manager doesnt buy only grand and important players. look at man utd, more than 50% of their new players were bad signings in the past few years.

Agree with you on the Europe issue mate, game came far too early and they played like true celts in the return leg, he must have done something right to get them fired up like that. They were unlucky.

Gordon Strachan is a great manager. I'm very happy we have him, unlike the moaners and doom and gloom mercheants, cos we play beautiful footie under him. But people just keep underapreciating him. even now, when we're hampuions and have started a season with a great win you moan about him

I have no reason to criticise Gordon Strachan. He has done very well, well done GS.

I like Strachan. He`s a good manager. Remember he has had to take a team on it`s last legs and build a new one. With a limited budget no less. When he has had money to spend he has made good signings (Zurawski, Nakamura, Jarosik. Virgo being the exception to that rule).
Young players seem to be benifitting from him as well. Wilson (our new McNamara), Maloney, McManus have flourished under him.

Our defence is our weak spot though. We really need a left back and a centre half (I see Caldwell as back up).
If only the board would let him spend half decent money on a quality centre half I think we`d be laughing.

I think GS has done a good job.

Naka, Miller, Magic and Boruc are great signings and hopefully he keeps em coming.

We'll wait and see how he deals under real pressure when the CL starts.

As things go I dont have a problem with GS for its my understanding that the people running Celtic as of yet are NOT giving him good finacial backing, now that could change, but I aint holding my breath.
This season will be a challenge for GS and Celtic more so than last season, so at the end of this season, I will pass judgement as to how I feel about GS.
Of course getting my two bits worth in as the season progresses I guess? :86:

I think he's done a good job, he had the task of getting rid of the pish MON left us with and re-build basically a whole new team, hes won 2 pieces of silverware in his first season AND has only had a fraction of the money MON had to spend on players. Well done GS!

As said, 1/3 of the first team left as GS came in. He had to scramble to sign players like Boruc, Zurawski, Nakamura, Camara, Telfer to plug the holes in the team. Some were successes, others weren't. We failed in Europe because the squad didnt have the time to gel.

He had to get rid of more players like Sutton, Agathe, Hartson for various reasons, all of them the good reasons. His task isn't going to be popular with players but should he be stopped from what absolutely needs to be done?

Signings like Keane, Wilson, Jarosik shows that he's not a fool, he can get good players, given the chance he will deliver. Europe this season will put Celtic back on the map and give him the finance to buy some really good players.

I can only think of a handful of managers that could have handled this rebuilding phase better.

Given time I think Strachan will become a hero with the fans......He did a great job last season (apart from artmedia & clyde) & I think things can only get better from now on!

I think WGS has done well with what he's got. Not many managers could have come in and won the league in their first season with no money, even if Rangers were rancid.

The Agathe thing still annoys me though, especially when I see that Telfer trying to play football, the guy's pish, end of story. He's Strachans mate and has been for 7 years, goes wherever he goes. Poor Wilson being made to play on the left because of that lump.

Watched some old games the other night with Agathe playing. The man was class, total waste it is.

Would you play Wilson and Telfer or Camara and Wilson last season?

None of the above, would have kept Agathe and bought a left back instead of 3 right backs.

Sorry 2 right backs and a Camara
