I'm sure the Danish people weren't too embarressed after winning Euro 1992 that they only qualified because Yugoslavia were kicked out of the competation.

If they were to get knocked out and we went back in, would we just move into the group they get put into tomorrow?

Also, how much money would we get just for getting into the group stages?

Celtic should do everything in their power to make sure Sion are kicked out. They fielded not one, not 2 but 5 inelegible players and were warned not to do this BEFORE the tie began. UEFA and FIFA must take action or they will be a laughing stock.

I think the ball is in Celtics court. The more we press the issue and publicise it the more pressure there iwll be on UEFA to throw them out the competition.

I don't see what's undignified about taking the place if we were given it. If an athlete in the Olympics wins the 100m gold medal and then fails a drug test after it, he's disqualified and the win and the gold is awarded to the second placed athlete who didn't feel the need to cheat, in fact it happens in any sport where someone is caught cheating. It's irrelevant to the situation that we played badly, whether they narrowly won 1-0 or pumped us 15-0 it just doesn't alter the fact that they cheated.

Participation in the Groups gets Just under 1million Euro. For every win you get an additional 140,000 or a draw gets 70,000

    last 32 200,000
    last 16 300,000
    1/4's 400,000
    semi's 700,000
    Losing finalist 2mill
    winner 3 mill

How they would reshape the groups is a complete mystery as we would have been seeded higher than Sion.

I think they will be kicked out. I can't see Uefa letting this slide.

It's going to be all or nothing - there's no 'a little bit guilty' i.e. 'we didnae really mean it, it was a mistake' (although even if that was the case - which it clearly isn't - would still be irrelevant.)
They will either be found in violation of fielding illegible players or not
If they are in violation, each game's result is automatically re-assigned as a 3-0 win for Celtic.
And of course we know what happens if their players are deemed eligible by CAS.
There is simply no middle ground over the legibility question - one way or other.
That does not mean that there could/might not be additional sanctions against Sion - and even the Swiss FA - but that doesn't really impact us.

I don't know how they handle the draw implications re the pot seeding.

The real mess in all this is that it could have - should have - been addressed before the first game was even played.

They can't let it slide but if they knew this was going on why did they not just kick them out before the second game started

I totally agree. Talking about deserving things...yeh sure..tonights game we sucked, and we didnt deserve to go through..but a lot of things we DO deserve we dont get. i think we deserved to win the league last season..and our players deserved something out of what they put in...if WE did get the place because Sion stupidly broke the rules knowingly , which i want, then i'll be happy to go through. Even though we have problems as a team..if we won all of our home games in the competition we could go far...weve done that old shpeal for years.

I think they couldn't have kicked them out because once Uefa deemed the players illegible Constantin lodged an appeal.

They deserve to play much more than we do!

I'll actually be a bit sad if we get in just because they are thrown out. We don't deserve it.

We deserve to take it on the chin and work hard to win the league and get to where we need to be to play in Europe next year.

If we were cheated. Then we deserve to go through.

Its not as if Sion didn't know the score.

Why? because 5 players that were not eligible to play played better than us. Maybe we could have evened it up by playing 5 players that were not eligible but strengthened our squad. I'm actually starting to feel sick at the amount of people that think Sion deserve to be involved in football in any capacity.

The chairman is a corrupt sheister that derseves the book throwing at him.

They were still the better team. To be honest we couldn't have come up with 5 ineligible players that would have strengthened our squad. We didn't bring in the talent during the important stages of the transfer window that would have done it for us. The board was too * tight on the purse strings. We were outplayed. If we can't beat a team like Sion, how can we beat etams like Spurs? Copenhagen? Dynamo Kyiv? Twente? etc? We were very unlucky with not having our three biggest players not fit during the first leg. And Maj was a *. All the same, we should be able to perform as a team without three players. Its not an excuse. We should have the proper coverage. Sion did turn their backs on UEFA but right now - as sad as it is to say it - they are the better team.

How good they are compared to us is irrelevant though. Like i've said in a previous post. If they 5 illegible players where, Messi, Ronaldo, Rooney, Villa and Buffon, and they beat 15-0 would you not want to take their place in the competition or because they played better ach it doesn't matter. The chairman played these players known it was breaking the rules. But done it because he is willing to take Uefa and Fifa to court for his bigshot lawyers todeal with it. It's wrong.
