He's been pulled into the office I think, following his quotes on large scale changes in Jan.

He's kinda backed down quite a bit on largescale changes come Jan.

could you imagine them pulling martin o neil into the office to speak, no but then again oneil would never have felt the need to display his weakness to the press same with wgs.mogga needs to keep those sort of feelings behind closed doors

Talking about which. I heard from a good source that Mowbray got pulled into the office by Dermot Desmond right after the Hamburg defeat. I don't know what transpired or the gist of it, just that it happened. Also heard from the same person that after the Motherwell draw at Parkhead last Saturday, Mc Manus was blaming the fans for booing in the dressing room, and Barry Robson told McManus to shut the * up and that the fans were right to boo if the players were playing *. It dozen't say much for McManus but says a lot for Robson's committment to the cause IMO.

Tony Mowbray: Celtic should get in to debt by having good players on the pitch - The Daily Record

Its been in most of the papers today, that the Manager wants the club to go into debt to bring in some quality players, & used Man United as an example of a club who is in debt, but have the players on the pitch to entertain..

My opinion of this is I think we should spend abit & go into debt, not deep into debt tho, we dont want to be stupid about it, we dont want to end up in the same boat as Rangers, with our hands tied behind our back & no way of bringing anyone in or even giving our Manager a new contract, but just enough to keep us going.. We are in credit anyway & dont we have a billionaire share holder? Can he not throw in his pennies worth?

I cant see us attracting players being a problem, the only problem usually is the wages & maybe this is where we should push the boat out more with.. The board seem to be scared to stick there hands deep into the pockets which I spose is abit understandable after the wages that were given to Balde & Gravesen & we didn't get the best out of them did we? Wel I know we did with Balde, im taking about his last couple of yrs at the club, picking up a wage packet for nothing really..

But I think if we can pin-point the players we want, then we should give them a higher wage packet, in order to get them. Ive heard that Dermot Desmond (Who im sure is our Billionaire share holder), has said he would pay Robbie Keane's wages, as he did when Roy Keane was here, so a few deals like that wouldn't go a miss..
& for our board to just push that bit harder to get a player in, you only have to look at last January for that, a matter of £500-600k, for Steven Fletcher & they didn't up it, we will never know if we got Fletcher that we would have won the League, you would like to think so, but things like that is what drives us the fans crazy! & I think its about time we got some heroes coming back threw the gates here..

Some fancy loan deals would be appreciated anything just to get us excited, the problem we have in our squad the now is, we have to many creative players, we have all the skill & pace in the world, but know 1 who can put the ball in the net. The style that Mowbray wants to play aswel, could mean some really good passers will be coming in, something I think we badily need..

Anyway what do you guys think about going into debt to bring in some players? Remembering that a big clear out would raise some funds aswel, maybe not alot, cos some of the deadwood we have you would be lucky if we got £1million for, but still freeing up some funds for wages at least..

We absolutely must go into some amount of debt. Not like Rangers, but a manageable one would be okay. Plus, the good players we'd bring in this way would help the club reduce the debt by helping to achieve better success in all competitions, which would help boost ticket and shirt sales, along with rewards from these competitions.

As long as the debt is manageable. No point getting ourselves into trouble like the 90's.

It's obvious we need a few guys to come in, but I don't know where they will come from. It sounds like Mogga has his targets already, though.

And if we sign flops whilst getting into debt will be back where we started except we have the bank putting pressure on us to sell players.

At the moment, I dont trust our scouting network to identify the correct players and I dont trust the management to get the best out of the players. I think the issues there need addressing before we try to buy our way out of trouble.

    No

In my opinion it could kill the club if it went into debt at this present moment in time. If the club goes into debt of say £20 Million and the economy keeps shrinking how could they pay it back. We could end up like we did before Mr Mcann came to our rescue. Minutes from Closure.

Our discussion is a bit irrelevant any way as i feel the Banks would not allow us a debt of more than 10 million. Players are pretty low value assets, (if a club goes into liquidation they are released on a free to cut the wages going out the door) and the land owned by the club is only of value as development land. And any would be developer would have to take in the cost of dismantling a stadium.

Sorry to have deppressed anyone reading this.

Hmmm. That is indeed quite interesting. You would think it would be the other way around and your Captain being the one to tell everyone that we pay their * wages so we have every right to say what we feel. Good on ye Barry Robson if that is true.

why do you always have to be pessimistic:rolleyes: what if we make 2 or 3 great buys and get the fans onside again and fill the stadium again and win the lge again and get into the cl again and get 15+m again..... im sure the bank would be very happy

Journos wouldn't do that would they?? :87:

I hate when you see a paper and the headline infers that someone has come out with some radical statement then when you read the quotes they never said anything of the sort.

i dont think we should be gettin in to debt we dont want to see us on the brink of bankrupcy again but i do feel that if i had the money the likes of so called celtic fans like rod stewart & billy conelly have i would dig in 2 ma pocket £ & help with a big name or to wether it was 2 help pay the cost of transfer or part of his wages it would be my duty as a celtic fan i feel sadly i dont but if i ever win the lottery u can be sure some of it goes 2 a player we need
is it just me or does any 1 else see similaritys 2 mogga & tommy burns both want to play attackin football n both unlucky i hope mogga can turn it round for his sake as well as the teams

i agree dempsey partly anyways,it would need the board to have total faith in the managments abilities which a would doupt, but there is also the speculate to accumilate ala man u with ronaldo, but on a lower scale which i believe we are trying to do.

if the board dont have faith in the manager they shouldnt & i dont think would have signed him they must have full faith in him other wise whats the point in bringin him here
