Reaction to Kyogo was far more positive, he was on better form and most importantly he was coming from the league Ange had just came from.

I doubt Rodgers knows who this guy is or wants him.

Massive problems going on behind the scenes once again

Obviously I can't judge yet nit seen anything barring youtube. But going by some comments I've seen from folk who watch j league and say hes got the energy levels of maeda, and press of kyogo. Now that sounds pretty good to me.
Let's see what he can do here. I think he will come good...as I do with anyone celtic sign.

Celtic will be raging his club announce the departure already.

This was our ace in the hole 30mins before the window closes.

Edit: we have Schlupp for that so all good.

The attitude and respect from the Japanese fans is really, really admirable.

Been done since July the 6th according to Shin himself

Incoming Celtic striker Shin Yamada has revealed the main reason he is leaving Japan to join the Scottish champions.

The 25-year-old forward was given a heartwarming farewell by the Kawasaki Frontale supporters, following their Emperor's Cup defeat to SC Sagamihara in the third round.

After the game, Yamada, who earned his first cap for his country last week, opened up on his imminent move to Celtic, where he will become the tenth Japanese player to play for the club. "When I played against Kashima Antlers (on July 6), it had already been decided," he told local media.

"Yes (I was emotional), Taiki (Yamada) was there too, and players came to see me too. It had already been decided at that time. "I feel like I've become more emotional! I definitely feel like I cry more easily."

"Today was a game, however, so I had mixed emotions. I was a bit embarrassed to be speaking in front of everyone there, so the tears didn't come."

Yamada continued: "When I joined Kawasaki Frontale, I had a desire to go overseas. I thought that if I didn't make that decision, I wouldn't be able to get any closer to my goal of participating in the World Cup and winning it in Japan. So that's the decision I came to."

"Of course, there are a lot of things that happen... I was hesitant... But I had no doubts about going (to Celtic)."

The level of player we brought in under Ange was clearly a higher pedigree. Still unknown because they came from J league, but Hatate, who is probably closest in background and pedigree to Yamada came off the back of winnng the league with Frontale and a great run of form. Last season Frontale finished 8th and Yamada has managed 2 goals in his last 20. In comparison, Kyogo was averaging a game every 2 games.

Even more baffling, Imamura finished 16th, just above the relegation zone with Albirex. I will eat my Celtic cap if it turns out a Celtic scout has managed to spot a gem from a relegation outfit in the J league that neither any other J league team nor team in Europe has managed to spot.

We arent even signing the best of the J league or even the 'next best' options. I have no trust that we know what we are trying to do to be honest

If we were buying Yamada in January, most would say he was at the same pedigree of Hatate tbf.

He was arguably the best Japanese performer in the J1.. the question is whether he can get back to that form.

Yeah thats fair. But we didnt sign him. So either we knew about him and decided against it. Or we were keen but wouldnt pay a bit extra to get him then. Or we never knew enough but now after a few poor months we have been convinced. And ultimately its a 1.5m signing to replace a 10m departure, 6 months too late. Just utterly unconvincing.

That all said, there is no reason why he cant do a job in the SPFL. By that standard Id expect we are still signing someone who will be one of the best players in our league. But once again we seem to have given up even trying to progress from a position of strength.

So......do you think they just pointed a finger at a random Japanese/J League player list and it landing on Inamura, or something of that ilk?

Anyway he will be coming here with a point to prove ahead of the world Cup next year and his first time in Europe. Hopefully by January we are talking about him as a £20m player. Who knows.

You'll get some of the things that Idah lacks out of him, question is whether we can get him scoring goals again.

The fact he’s involved in the Japanese International team surely gives grounds for optimism. You don’t play for Japan unless you have something.

Is it a japanese thing to give their players such a send off/platform? Kyogo got similar as well before he moved here.
Or is he actually that well thought of by his club that he's someone they are gonna miss and sad to sell?

Initially I was very underwhelmed due to his recent goal record, but having watched some footage of him, there is some cause for optimism.

He looks quite a tenacious and hardworking player and hopefully with the chances he will get in our team, he will find his goalscoring form again.

With the addition of another quick winger or two, we could have the makings of a very dynamic front line.
