Wouldn't you say he's the best goal scorer at the club at the moment though?

id say he is the worst. a couple of goals in pre-season mean * all. the man has always been a complete donkey. i just cant understand why people called him a tube 6 months ago, and because of a couple of penalties in pre-season, people now say he deserves a chance, just no. he can * off for free.

I disagree. Can't think of a better front man at the club at the moment unfortunately.

id rather keep samaras than fortune, sammy can at least score goals whereas fortune simply cant

Which is a sad indictment in and of itself. Of the strikers we have (maybe excluding Murphy and Hooper as we haven't really seen them) he's probably the most talented striker we have. But his problem is application under pressure, and I just don't think Samaras has the stuff to do the job when the pressure is on - and it will be on, constantly, when you play for Celtic.

He might get us 15 goals a season, but I wouldn't rely on him scoring the big goals in the big games that win you trophies.

My Greek flatmate just told me that he heard on Greek radio that Sammy is wanted by Newcastle United and their offer will soon be put on the table.

Looks like the dreams of many Sammy-bashers may come true...if Sammy leaves our club we'll only have ourselves to blame. No player can maintain any level of confidence with the amount of abuse Sammy gets. Good luck son. Let's hope you'll be appreciated more in the Premiership..

I agree with that. But I think the amount of pressure he gets is way our of proportion. I don't blame him for losing confidence under the abuse he gets.

This is a hard one for me because Lennon was right Sammy is a total enigma you never know what player your gonna get which is a gamble but I think if someone could get through to him and get him playing with consistancy then hes a good player to have and I think he cares about the club.

if he is indeed an enigma, then why would you take a chance in playing him as a lone striker in a very important game, early in the season. it's like russian roulette with this one. i'd rather have someone with less talent and more consistency than whatever it is that he brings

Gut feeling is Lenny will keep him now because when he looks at the rest of the options he knows there might not be too many others weighing in with goals.. He did call him an enigma which suggests he doesn't know what he's going to get from him from one game to the next but there's always that feeling that because the talent is definately there , it's upto a manager to unlock it and get the best out of him.. It's a challenge but I just think that Lenny might have been swayed from the games so far and feels that he's upto the task of making Sammy the player he can be..

As a sidenote I hope he's also decided he can't persist with Fortune as someone to rely on for goals.. Decent link-up play and good assist for the disallowed Scott Brown goal , but in truth both guys were off-side for that move and I felt Fortune was a big let down again with his 3 missed chances , although the importance of the game maybe wasn't that high..

With Fortune it's either play him as a wide man or not at all..

The abuse Sammy gets is due to his frequent oscar winning performances as ''baby dear in rollerskates who wandered onto a football pitch''. If he can't handle pressure he shouldn't be a footballer and he certainly shouldn't be playing for Celtic, where nothing less than victory in absolutely every game is tolerated.

I think him still being here and still wanting to play shows he can cope with the pressure. The abuse he gets is completely over the top.

I have always gave him chances, i think he should have exited through the back door in this window.
but theres a twist here, what i am seeing from him makes me wonder if we should just hang on to him i just dont know

for me i think this lad is better than fortune

Ok , maybe Sammy is not the goalscorer Celtic's desperately looking for, but just have a look at the other options and also consider the financial state in which the team is...
I for one think Fortune and Rass should be long gone before Samaras. At least with the big guy you always have that hope that he can come off the bench and turn a game to its head, something other strikers could hardly do.
+ i dont think his wages are so big so he's just another good option for the squad
