Its very similar to Dandelion and burdock. Its not alcoholic.

The best American root beer is this:

Yeh the main difference is American Root beer is made from the root of Sassafras plant, whereas Dandelion and Burdock is obviously made from the roots of those plants.

I used to drink the * like tap water. A&W is still my favourite fast food joint and they are all about the root beer but I don't drink soft drinks anymore.

Aye, just like coke, irn bru, dr pepper etc

I imagine they only sell it in those glass bottles like the pictures above as its called "beer" buts its just ginger.

That Carter stuff from asda tastes like if you mixed peppermint mouthwash with cream soda.

Should try it the 6 pack of cans in asda(thats all they sell) is only £1.60 or something, so less than 30p a can.

They sell it in glass bottles because its an old timey pop.

All flavours of pop (or mineral, or whatever you call it) were sold in glass bottles back in the day in America. Have you ever seen old Coca-Cola advertising?

Yes there is only one flavour of root beer because its is flavoured using the Sassafras root

There is another similar drink besides Dandelion and Burdock too.. Birch Beer. Birch Beer is another non-alcoholic carbonated beverage made out of the sap of Birch trees. It tastes similar, but sweeter.

Disgusting stuff. My brother loves it though. Every time we're in Canada together I feel like we're permanently based in A&W.

I'm going to throw out another similar drink that I have recently been enjoying that I think comes from the same root. It's called Sarsparilla and you can have it hot or cold. :86:

Yeh Ive heard of that too actually. Surprisingly its popular in Korea. The one I drank was Korean. But its actually a very old timey American drink. Actually it comes from the Sasparilla root [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smilax_regelii"]Smilax regelii - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia[/ame]
