    Celtic fan Julia Paterson who fulfilled a lifelong dream by walking on the Parkhead pitch for her 100th birthday sadly dies


    Hoops supporter Julia was welcomed on to the pitch at half-time during the final game of the season against Hearts to mark her big day

    A CELTIC fan who celebrated her 100th birthday by walking on the Parkhead pitch has sadly died.

    Hoops supporter Julia Paterson fulfilled a lifelong dream when she was welcomed on to the pitch at half-time during the final game of the season against Hearts.

    She watched on as her beloved Celts beat the Jambos 2-0 to cement their invincible status before lifting the league trophy.

    She was joined on the pitch by defender Mikael Lustig and her family as she marked the incredible milestone.

    Speaking to the Celtic View at the time, Julia said: “I feel that today is the highest point in my life.

    “I’ve always loved Celtic, and to have reached 100-years-old and to be able to come and see them, especially the way they’re playing just now, is wonderful.”

    Julia is said to have died peacefully on Thursday afternoon.

    A club statement said: “The thoughts and prayers of everyone at Celtic are with Julia’s friends and family at this time.”
