after the defeat to malmo ronny came out with this line and i never really understood it, but over the last few weeks with the good run we had scoring goals and looking good again everyone was back on side, but then you see that today, ronny has to take part of the blame, but our players looked no were near as good as they have been, not just in winning the game, but all aspects of play, since ronny has came in we have struggled to win the bigger games, but then we go on runs of winning well and playing good football , big game comes around and then same thing happens, are the players scared ???

I don't think they're scared, I just don't think they have the ability to perform consistently enough to win the treble.

we played ross county a few weeks back and beat them 4-0 and yet today, even with the red card i no it does not help, but they looked better than us all over the park, and also wanted it more.

We don't seem to have the mentality when the chips are down.

Even going 2-0 up in Europe we lose our * when we lose a goal.

We are world class at flying out the traps and if we overrun a team in the first 15/20 minutes we look like world beaters.

As soon as we are challenged we look lost and devoid of ideas.

Not enough passion in the team.

We have some talented footballers who can on occasion look fantastic. Sadly with the vast majority they don't have the mentality and resolve when the chips are down.

Which is arguably something that can't be taught.

Seems to me that we have a load of players now who will carry out the managers instructions to the letter because that's what he wants. Players who do that will find themselves into the team.

When the * hits the fan there is no urgency though, no fight, no heart... As soon as plan A is out the window everything else goes to *.

Even against Hamilton and especially St Johnstone I said our defending was still suspect and so it proved today.

I don't know what Ronny is teaching them day to day but he certainly doesn't have them fired up to run through brick walls at the start of a game.

    This is spot on.

I don't think Ronny quite knows how to react when it doesn't go to plan.

i honestly dont get it, as soon as its some sort of high pressure game against a half decent team, everything goes to bits, there was nothing today, disjointed all over, and its the same every big game, i posted in the match thread at half time saying ground hog day, and thats exactly what it is, we beat aberdeen on wednesday go on another run will everything be ok ??

Was making this point back to the car in the * rain. Our XI is a collection of individuals rather than a unit. If you think back to MON's reign and even Strachan to an extent, the spine of team was built on those who gave 100% and won 40/60 balls. If someone wasn't pulling their weight, they'd get told by their teammates. This current crop are as timind as they come. When things start going against them, it's heads down and back in their shell they go.

agree with this too, but surely on the players part personal pride comes into it, our players today never looked like they wanted it, thats not down to tactics or the manager, heart and desire and and a will to win, is something that you should not be turning on and off it should always be there, and imo today we lacked all 3 all over the park.

Players like Armstrong appear to play well when the whole team plays well. When we need to dig in guys like him are missing. It is like getting jumped in the street you know what mates you can count on when a team of * are kicking * out of you. I would have TIerney and Brown covering my back from this shower. No one else. They are all too pansy!!!

but they are not * when they are beating everything thats put on front of them in the league, playing good football and scoring goals, the last few weeks have been good, and then bang back to square one.

I thought earlier in the season in the European games that the players looked scared. Now it simply looks like the manager doesn't know how to change his plan when needed.

I think that's down to the manager though. One of his big selling points when he came was "Don't be afraid to make a mistake".

After 20 months it seems like don't be afraid to make a mistake as long as you follow my plan to the letter.

Too many players doing the same things over and over again even when the chips are down.

It might be pleasing the manager that the players are doing what they are told but it's not helping us at all.

    Another good point.

Armstrong isn't a leader, not many of them are to be fair but he is the absolute worst.

said the exact same thing to my old man coming out the ground, the same players are making them same mistakes, and there is nothing said or done, when a player makes a mistake not one players on the park takes the bull by the horns and makes sure it does not happen again, as a unit in the bigger games we seem to play like * robots, with the same things happening over and over again.

Couldn't believe it was McGregor who came off today, even that early you could see Armstrong wasn't in it.

I would have rejigged the team and kept McGregor on the park.

They had already said Armstrong had signalled to the bench that he had picked up a knock. Taking that into consideration, it's ridiculous it wasn't him that got taken off.

McGregor was also at the heart of everything good in that first ten minutes I think
