Many of us have given the guy serious pelters (myself included) on this forum but I think in his last few games he has done a really good job for us and last night when it really mattered against Benfica he hardly put a foot wrong, so I hope you'll join me in saying "HAIL HAIL Paul keep up the good work" :scotland:

He will never be classed as scintillating but he can't be faulted for his efforts and sheer hard work. For a wee while there the boo bhoys affected his confidence and to be fair some of his performances might have justified strong comment but as I have already said before they all make mistakes :celt_smil hope he keeps up the good work!

never given him pelters dont see the point

I could see the point if he was non trying at any time, we paid decent money for him, or if he was in his 20's. The guy is doing amazing even to compete at all at this level at his age especially getting forward every time he can. If he walked out on us after some of the out of order * he has been taking we would be in trouble when Wilson got injured. I hope that he doesn't get any more pelters at all now.

He seems to be playing better now since the fans got off his back as much because WGS basically told us to support him.

See what a little support can do, hail hail Paul!

Telfer has responed to the slagging with very solid performances. Lets egg his house and see if he turns into Zambrotta

I've said all along he will never let you down. He is not the classiest but he is hard working and always gives his best. Since he came back into the team we have only lost one goal. Given Gordon's record of sticking by players who are in form, Wilson may not walk back into the team when fit.

telfer is doing the job that is needed for the time bieng yes much respect lets hope he keeps it up ... but our best defender... before he got injured will most definately go into the team.. also wilson offers a lot more going forward.. his crossing etc is better... once u have wilson and naylor going at you down the flanks... we can be formidable.

I'm not saying he shouldn't, I'm just saying given WGS record he may stick with the winning team. Wilson will be out until December, what if we remain unbeaten in that time or better still if our goal remain's intact. It will be a hard decision. I prefer Wilson but it's hard not to notice the number of shut-outs we have had lately. Not ignoring Caldwell, McManus or Naylor or Boruc who have all been magnificent. Anyway, it's good know we have plenty in reserve.

Different situation. McGeady was playing out of his skin, probably our best player this season.

Telfer has been doing ok, filling in but certainly not doing anything special which would suggest he's better than Wilson

Who, may I point out Strachan called 'the best defender in the country' when he got injured

Wilson straight back in - it's a no brainer

I know Wilson is one of the best players, he is also one of my favourite players but that is beside the point. When good players come back from injury they arent put straight back it, they have to earn it.

Caldwell is doing the same to Balde. He'll only go straight back in if Telfer gets injured

He'll go straight back in even if Telfer is fit simply because he offers more going forward

Caldwell is keeping Balde out the team because he is a better footballer, Balde's game does not fit in with WGS's new passing philosophy
