I have never seen a player, since Best, dribble a ball in that unique way that Georgey boy did (Maradonna being the exception) until Paddy came on the scene and with that ability he must be seriously lacking in other departments if he can't make our stumble-* side.

I would love to know if he is in Celtic's long term plans or is he just a cheap bit of cover when all else fails. If he doesn't get a run out next season I hope his head will rule his heart and leave Celtic as he could be a brilliant asset to an SPL or Championship team.

I would like to know what you all think of him as I may be slightly biased in my opinion being a Norn Iron man.

I think the fact that Best with a drink in him could last longer than McCourt might have something to do with it. Or the fact that he is not as good, either one of those.

If McCourt had fitness and helped a bit more defensively he'd be at a bigger club than celtic.

ah come on hunskelper, he does that thing where he rides tackles, refuses to fall and looks like he's strolling rather than running, you just don't see it anymore, its mesmerizing. I will concede that he is unbelievably unfit and is not what you would describe as a team player, but he has serious skills.

His skills are second to none. Unfortunately skills ain't everything in football anymore, you gotta be capable of so much more these days.

if McCourt had played 40 years ago, he would be considered a legend today.

but he plays now, he ain't a football legend, but he's good enough to be my fav Celtic player :icon_mrgreen:

He's a fantastic talent, there's no doubt about that, and I'd have him in and around the team more than he has been.

If we are to believe all we hear, then his fitness is a big issue, and for a professional player that has to be a worry.

    Great player though.

Paddy needs a long run of games like McGeady, we should treat him like a big signing, play him week in week out, he has so much Magic.

got to agree wit OP, there are striking similarities, although mccourt is no where near as good a player as best

The game has changed a lot and McCourt just doesn't fit in, his lack of teamwork and inability to carry out any defensive work, excludes him from starting any games in my opinion. A fantastic impact sub but sadly that's all he'll ever be.

I agree there are similarities but there are more differences, McCourt isn't and never will be, half the player George Best was.

Mccourt's a great player i cant understand how he doesnt get into the team
His dribbling is just so different it throws defenders off imo he should be subbed on every game

His goals to minutes played ratio must be up near the top of our playing staff. And hes the only member of our team with the ability to constantly make defenders look stupid. All this and on 40 * and a bottle of bucky a day if some posters are to be believed......:87:
