Glenn Loovens - Pacy and powerful and good in the air but lacks in positioning and composure on the ball

Thomas Rogne - Decent Pace good in the air, composed on the ball but his positioning and decision making is questionable and lacks experience in the league and in football

Josh Thompson - Good in the Air and composed on the ball, but is unbelievably slow and lacks experience

Joos Hooiveld - Good pace, Aggression, Decision making looks good, Composed on the ball, need to adapt to scottish football though.

Darren O'dea - Pace is ok, good in the air, very Aggressive, Likes to play long ball (caldwell style), Plays with alot of Passion but positioning and decision making is poor which makes him a last ditch defender.

Milan Misun - from what ive seen he has Pace, Aggression, Good In the air, Positioning good and likes to go forward only bad point is him having no experience and may not play consistently like rest of the young defenders we have.

Thats my view on our centre backs but what is everyone elses opinions and view on the players and out of that group was makes the best pairing ?

Rogne and Hooveld should be the way forward but I worry about there fitness.
I notice that some players play very well in summer, but when the hard pitches in winter sink in they disappear!
Hope I am not describing Sammy this year though!!!:56:

U must be having a laugh. Loovens is one of the worst players ever to wear the jersay. His first game against Falkirk, he was rag-dolled all day by Michael Higdon. We were lucky to win 3-1, a score that falkirk didn't deserve.

IBROX - TWICE he let Miller through, twice he scored. PACE - the guy has none. He has the turning circle of an articulated lorry

Being honest i dont see much defenders being able to physically handle higdon. Kenny Miller on the other hand was a bad game and as i said his positioning is bad which is why Miller scored. Too say he doesn't have pace is just daft, he may not be the quickest at turning but when he gets going he is very fast

I really just wish O'dea was better because i like him and his passion and aggression is quality. He has the same mentality, fight all the way but sometimes his temper gets the better of him which i like in a player, maybe if he got a run of games he could improve the other areas of his game

I would never let loovens wear the jersey again. I would rather Billy McNeill sign up for next season. He would still do a better job than glenda

Thats exactly the same qualities as McManus, yet some fans never gave him the chance

O'dea, McManus and Cuthburt are/where all in the same mould and that mould is * *. The defense coaches at the youth level must be shockingly bad. I want shot of O'dea as I did McManus.

Loovens - rank jobbie rotten get him sold
    O'Dea - see above ^
    Thompson - as mentioned previously

Hooiveld, Rogne and Misun are the only ones i feel comfortable watching and i've hardly seen them play that much, the previous 3 are all bomb scares and need to be shipped out for more experienced and better centre backs

Think Loovens and O'dea need to be moved on, I like the look of Rogne and Hooiveld.

I would rather Josh Thompson in the team than O'Dea, easy.

Pecking order for me (although the first 4 are close)

    Hooiveld, Rogne, Loovens, Misun

with Thomson as backup. O'Dea can leave as far as I'm concerned. I've only seen 1 game of Misun's and a few more of Rogne but in those fleeting glimpses they look pretty class like. Perhaps even one day the 2 of them can be our first choices, but for now Hooiveld and maybe Loovens as our first 2 and I'd be happy.

Loovens has basically had his entire time here shattered by that Old Firm game. He's not the best CB we've ever had but he can be pretty dominating in the SPL - it's the biggest of games he can be shaky so I see no reason why he shouldn't be kept on as 3rd or 4th choice.

    Kevin Wilson and Sol Campbell.

Loovens is too easily bullied (by Kenny Miller FFS) and has poor positioning sense. Darren O'Dea is a big lump, and Josh Thompson is too young and inexperienced to play at this level for long periods of time.

That leaves us with Hooiveld, Rogne and Misun - Hooiveld is an unknown right now, and Rogne and Misun have 4 competitive appearances between them (all from Rogne). All three have had injury worries in the last year.

No, we need to get at least one reliable centre half in, loan Josh Thompson out and sell Loovens and O'Dea.

They are both very similar, being slow, decent in the air and tough tackling. However I think Thompson has a better attitude, is younger and has time to develop, and generally is slightly better in most aspects.

O'Dea seems to have a * complex, don't like his attitude or body language at all.

Also Ive listed Thompson at 5th choice so I expect Thompson would be ready to be Celtic's fifth choice, I doubt I can say the same about O'Dea...

Nae offense, but you need to get out more!!!

McManus was, is and always will be crap!! The amount of times Caldwell had to bail him out was unbelievable. I actually think a lot of fans only realised how good Caldwell was until after he left...and even he wasn't that great!! McManus had NO passion, NO fight. He was a very poor choice as captain. He couldn't get anyone up for the fight, couldn't get the team going. When Boruc was roaring and yelling at the time, that should have been McManus. O'Dea is just a heid banger! More trouble than what he's worth. Far too sloppy (like McManus), far too slow (like McManus). Look at the semi final vs Ross County. He was caught out too many times during that game, and left Thomson exposed. Thomson will turn out to be a good player, but it is far too early for him just now. He just looked like a rabbit in the headlights at times.

Loovens is slow and lacksy daysical (spelling?), Thompson, misun and rounge are young lack experience but are very good prospects especially the latter two.

Odea likes to think of himself of the 'hard man of the team' (mgeadys words on soccer am) and he yrys to play the long ball, with no sucsess. He is also young and inexperienced.

Hooiveld looks not bad but we have not seen enough of him to judge him.

We need at least 1 experienced cb to come in and take charge and take the responsibility off brown and a very young defence.
