Actually think he might try and play 3 at the back. Don't know why, just have a feeling.

We'll actually have the players for it, wouldn't mind seeing that as an alternative.

Boyata, Simunovic and the new bhoy whose name I'll learn to spell soonish, don't strike me as players who'll be happy on the bench in Scotland.

Big Erik, and Simunovic and Boyata fighting it out for the other.......with Simunovic winning more often than not..

Good competition and an area that's starting to look strong again..

I've been thinking that too. Competition's healthy, but maybe Ronny wants to rotate? I rate all three of them, and Ambrose is as good as any of them on his day when he concentrates.

Agree with those hinting towards the possibility of a back 3.

Ambrose can't be trusted though, that's his problem.

Rotating central defence pairings really isn't a productive thing to be doing.

I'll be surprised if he tried 3 at the back. Did he ever do it at Stromsgodset?

Plus, we don't really have the players for it right now. Tierney is more of a defender than an attacker I think and Lustig is never a wing back. Janko would maybe suit it but * knows when he'll be back.

    I'm thinking Janko and Izzy...

    I was thinking 3-4-3

Lustig could do it. With the added protection and pace of Boyata on the right side, the leadership of big Erik in the middle and Simunovic who is capable with both feet, on the left. With defensive cover of Efe and Mulgrew, it's not too bad, for now..

Maybe Lustig wouldn't necessarily have to sprint back as much. With Broony and Bitton as well, it's hard to see us opting for that formation, as it only gives us licence for 3 real attacker's..

    Certainly interesting though..

Maybe but dropping Tierney would be silly at this point.

Judging by the poll I think Boyata is a bit underrated here. It's not at all clear too me that he's a worse player than Simunovic or the Danish guy.

Tierney could play the role, he tires towards the end of the game and ends up with cramp a lot just now though. He has the ability and the workrate but I don't know if he could do it for 90 minutes just now.

I do agree dropping him would be daft.
