One third of British whites claim they are victims of racism

A growing number of white people believe they are the victims of racial prejudice in Britain, official research has found.

Almost one in three - 29 per cent - said they now expected to be treated worse than other races by key public services.

And the number of whites claiming to have been refused a job or discriminated against at work for reasons of race has doubled in the last five years, according to the Government study.

Seven per cent believed they had failed to win a promotion because of their race, up from three per cent in 2003.

Three per cent alleged they had been turned down for a job for the same reason, up from one per cent.

In addition, the study reveals that most ethnic minorities living in Britain feel stronger ties to the nation than whites.

 

Could be true. I immediately thought of colour and thought 'pish' then started to think of nationality.

How's it *? It can and does happen.

The only thing they forgot to mention is the 2/3 of non-white people that get discriminated against in every walk of life.

End of the day....Everyone get's discriminated against for some reason or another, and race and colour just seem to be the easiest ones to pick out.

 

There are a few areas down here you can't really go walking about in if you are a white guy. It is sad but it is true.

 

I live in Leicester and I would say I get racially abused at least once a month

 

I have my suspicions, firstly because it's the Daily Mail, and also because of the wording in the article; "now expected to be treated worse than other races by key public services."

Not saying they're all wrong, but I can't see where their proof comes from. If you get turned down for a job or promotion the boss isn't going to tell you it's because you're white, so if these people believe that to be the case then it may well be a sort of racist paranoia. Then again, they could be right. It would be interesting to see what sort of political views these people held.

 

So is it racist paranoia that equal rights opportunities were put in in the first place then?

 

It's wholly unfortunate that so many people have this attitude towards racism and white's.

And before any shrill-voiced Daily Mail readers says it, no I'm not saying that's an attitude exclusive to white people. Because guess what folks - being an entitled * has nothing to do with what race you are.

 

Imagine what sort of cretins fill in surveys for the Daily Mail, I'm surprised the results arent even higher.

 

I'm shocked at some of the answers here, didn't you all know that it is impossible for people to be racist towards whites ???? you do know that our ancestors trawled scoured the world looking for anyone with a different colour of skin to oppress and we were so evil and now we are just paying consequences.

I would also be interested to hear what is in fact the correct newspaper to read ?? if all the Daily Mail prints is complete evil * lies then what is the correct and honest left newspaper that prints nothing but fact fact fact, I can't wait to be enlightened

 

What a joke. Just racism in general. A * joke from all ends of the spectrum.

 

I don't think many white people are getting rejected from jobs because of racism, since the vast majority of bosses are also white.

There are certainly a lot of people these days who are scared stiff of being branded an -ist, either a racist or sexist or whatever else, and so by trying to be fair they actually end up being racist to everyone.

Like positive discrimination, a lot of bosses started giving a disproportionate amount of jobs to ethnic people because of complaints of racism - so now non-whites feel they are only getting a job because of their colour not theit talents, and whites are feeling discriminated against!

I wish everyone would just calm down and stop being so uptight about everything, I suppose that's easy for me to say though as i've never been a victim of everything and have friends of all races so I have no problems.

 

I think genuine racism - i.e hating someone and oppressing them based upon the colour of their skin or nationality - is of course horrible.

But I do think for the most part people need to grow a pain and stop finding reason to take offence or explain why they arent where they want to be in life. Last week it was Alan Hansen in trouble because he used the term "coloured" rather than "black", while that black labour mp was getting it for having a cheeky dig at the history of white people. Before that it was Jeremy Clarkson getting it for suggesting Mexicans were lazy. Now all the poor white folks cant get jobs because they are white!

I just wish people would grow up. Besides anything else the watered down nature of what "racism" has become utterly detracts from real cases of oppression and horrible violence. I (and probably many others) am very guilty of perhaps being a bit flippant towards "racism" nowadays as it just seems the vast majority of reported racism is hardly even worth reporting in a sane society. This is just the latest nonsense - no doubt next week we will be hearing of another group of people who are so very hard done by...
