Craic? Does anyone remember an old Celtic song about us beating the filth 7-1. I cant remember its name. It goes like this:

For if i live to be 100
Ill never ever have such fun
As the day that Glasgow Celtic
Beat the Rangers 7-1

'We had joy we had fun.
we beat Rangers 7-1,
But the joy didn't last as the b*st*rds sang the sash'

It may be that -the tune may have been a Carpenters Song????
Help required there!!!!!!!!

Here's the lyrrics

Putting On The Agony: 1969 Cup Final Remix
Oh Hampden Park was crowded
The fans began to roar
The Rangers fans were singing
Of the sash their father wore.
But very soon
The changed their tune
When the Celtic plan was set,
For Lennox crossed to Billy McNeill
And the ball was in the net!

Chorus
Putting on the agony
Putting on the style
One, two, three, four lovely goals
Scoring all the while.
There's nothing in this whole wide world
That makes you want to smile
Like watching Glasgow Celtic
Putting on the style

Now Lennox he caused trouble
With his running through
And from a long ball from defence
He made it number two.
All that day he worked his way
To make the Rangers prance
And the Celtic End went round the bend
Doing the victory dance

Chorus
Now just before the interval
Came goal number three
And this time it was slotted in
By young george Connelly
in his first cup final
A day he'll not forget
When he walked the ball round big John Greig
Into the Rangers net.

Chorus
Chalmers was our centre
He gave his all and more
And to him fell the honour
Of scoring number four.
A dribble down the left wing
A shot which goalward sped
And once again the Scottish Cup
Was resting at Parkhead.

Chorus

On the classic slopes of Hampden
In October fifty-seven
Stood the mighty Glasgow rangers
And another great eleven,
One hundred thousand voices singing
Follow follow was there theme
While a gallant band of Faithful
Sang the wearin' o' the green.
Battle joined and battle favoured
Battle favoured only one
And as each glory goal was added
Seven times this song was sung
REFRENG:
Another goal for Glasgow Celtic
Another victory for the cause
Another reason to be giving
Another cheer just for the Bhoys
For if I live to be a hundred
I'll never ever have so fun
As the day that Glasgow Celtic
Beat the rangers seven - one.
Now from the lakes of Old Killarney
To the lands of County Cork
From the bridge at Sydney Harbour
To old Broadway of New York
Aye they'll sing of Celtic's glory
Aye they'll tell it old and young
Of the day that Glasgow Celtic
Beat the rangers seven - one.

Wee Jinky beats the rest?

They talk of men like Pele,
and the great Eusebio,
and even Stanley Matthews,
who played so long ago.
He's even aced the Belfast boy,
wee George was second best.
Not Johann Cruyff, not on your life
Wee jinky beats the rest.

I went down to Largs then, by the C L Y D E
Sure it was my intention to learn to water ski
I was up behind a speedboat but what was that I see
But Jinky in a rowing boat and he was passing me

Overthere at Ibrox Park, against the Ger's he played,
John Greig and all his cronies, in bed they should have stayed
And then his 'Auld' pal Bertie got on his Knees and prayed
Saying 'Mother Mary you were right, in heavan wee Jinks was made'

Away across in Lisbon, as the sun was beating down
Big Jock and all his Lions, they made Ferrera frown
Around the Milanese, wee Jink danced round and round,
until your man Faccheti was corkscrewed in the ground

Against the mighty Yugoslavs, the pride of old Belgrade
Big Jock he praised wee Jinky, cos what a game he played
They couldnae get him on the plane, it was a fine to-do
Jink says 'I'll take my rowing boat if it's all the same to you'

So come on raise your voices and everybody sing
of little Jimmy Johnstone, a wizard on the wing
He brought us Joy and magic, in the Celtics white and green
No doubt he was the finest theat the world has ever seen.
