When, according to this football blog, Darren Bent is going for £18 million (possible rising to £24 milliion). Proof that the transfer market in England is screwed. Bent has also shown himself to be a mercenary of the worst kind. So much for loving the club.

 

Nah in England Bent is worth that. He is just short of Rooney and Drogba in terms of goals scored in the League.

It's like Gilardino going to Milan a couple of years back for insane money, he's worth it because he knows how to score in his league.

 

Crazy money, he's probably worth it though.

What gets to me is like that it's like Hearts and Aberdeen spending £18m between themselves for one player.

I can't believe crap like that gets £60m a year just for the privelage of playing in the same league as Manure does.

 

Bent has a pretty good scoring record. Worth £18m? Not to Villa, IMO. Maybe to City/Utd/Arsenal/Chelsea but if I were Villa I'd be wanting a bit more for £18m

There buying a striker that scores goals for fun in the league they play in 18million is a snip ,

They could look abroad and waste money on the likes of Elmander , Alfonso Alves , Kezman etc .

 

No football player should be priced any higher than 20 million pounds, its shocking

sunderland bought him for ten million so that dictates that they would want a sell on value. if u put it this way carroll is been made out to be a thirty million player and imo bent is twice the player and more proven so if you look at it in that context it is fair. also transfer price have become over inflated but the transfer market is what is dictating how much money clubs have to spend now to get a player of quality

 

Agree only Drogba and Rooney have score more prem leagues goals than him , your buying goals with him that is what its all about , only thing i do not get with bent is why none of the top 4 are after him he is a goal machine .

I know he will not end up at Man utd as he is banging fergie jnrs ex wife.

 

The market has been messed up for a number of years so it's hard to say what a good price is but I'd put him in the same bracket as Berbatov or Defoe value wise.. Say £13m being about right , but because a rival team wants him they should definately have to pay a bit more.. I think he's a player that is still improving and £5m on top of what his value might be (taking it to £18m) is fair for both parties..
