was thinking about this over the last week.

there is not one player in the celtic squad that i have any affection for.

all we have is a team of strangers

does anyone else feel the same?

That's because they aren't delivering the goods.. Can you say you didn't have affection for Paddy after each of his solo run goals ? If players deliver the goods then they win over the fans.. Right now it's hard to be generous to them..

been like that for a few years even under wgs no players stood out for me,like Sutton Larson etc, they have all been players who fail to shine and stand out.

No I don't feel the same. Artur Boruc is my favourite EVER Celtic player.

I like most of our players to be honest. The only ones I don't really have much time for are.....

Glenn Loovens - Tackles like a fairy. I don't like that.
Georgios Samaras - He just frustrates the * out of me.
Zheng Zhi - I see nothing in him.

Borac is a maybe actually but he hasnt been anything like the player he was 2 years ago.

Mccoart i had high hopes for but he has only played a couple of games and i dont see him coming to anything even tho he is so talented.

McGeady i dont get i actually dislike him he is as frustrating as sameras and seems to be a horrible little moaning *.

Keane isnt even a proper celtic player and im begining to think him being here is bringing the team down. not because he isnt a wonderful player but because the rest of the team seem to be of the mentality of get it to keane asap and hope he can do something.

Zheng Zhi is one of few Celtic players that I have absolutely zero time for. I just don't think he posses the technical ability I was expecting and the less said about the physical side of his game the better.

As for affection, I've warmed to the new strikers. Fortune has come onto a game recently and has been very impressive and Rasmussen compliments him brilliantly. Think these two will be fan favourites soon enough, for different reasons completely.

As for quality, look no further than Hinkel. He's been consistent since he joined Celtic in my opinion. I doubt we're going to hold onto him much longer.

I think Fortune has come through all the stick and price tag slagging now and is looking like being a good player for us. I can see big Rass being the goal getter and Fortune being the workhorse upfront.

I can understand what you are saying in that there are few that stand out consistently so as to elevate them to "fans favourite" status.....that said I do think that there are a few who have the potential...
    <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" /><o:p></o:p>
    <o:p></o:p>
I watch Hooiveld after the away game at <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:smarttags" /><st1:City w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Hamilton</st1:place></st1:City>, we won 1-0 but he went demented at the final whistle, you would have thought we had won the league...I like that kind of passion.
    <o:p></o:p>
    <o:p></o:p>
Rasmussen hasn't had a lot of game time, but his robust, non nonsense approach to defenders and goal scoring (Sutton esk) will make him a favourite.
    <o:p></o:p>
    <o:p></o:p>
As for Paddy he is a hero, but mainly because he comes across like the bloke down the pub who can dance around the 5-a-side pitch but has to have a * break every 10 minutes....<o:p></o:p>

Barry Robson was my hero because the guy would have died for the Celtic shirt, and yet Mowbray flogged him for the likes of Ki who couldn't lace Robbo's boots imo.

It's true, I haven't felt connected to any of the players at Celtic, even under wgs. I think there is a good few players in the squad now that could become fans favourites…rasmussen…fortuné…kamara…even hinkel.

Boruc & mcgeady have been great to watch(at times), but not the kind of role model that kids look upto like king Henrik.

Once this team has a bit of stability & start playing as a unit, I can't wait to see the results. But I really think they need a full season together. We've got a lot of talent in our team but just not got into the groove yet.

I have to disagree, I just think it's the rough times were going through right now. Of course there are those I like more than others, and really the only player I don't like is Zhi.

Aye Robson was my favourite player, before he got moved on.

At the minute I can't say I feel affection for any of the players. Boruc and Fortune are the only ones that would maybe come close.

Alot of the time the status of fan's favorite is conferred on flamboyant players, or those with big boisterous personalities, the likes of Boruc or Hooiveld (from his media spots & youtube clips) & the players that grab headlines, for whatever reason. Then there are the quiet achievers, the guys who put in a consistant effort, but take time to realise how much they have grown on you and are often not appreciated fully until they are missing. Jackie McNamara was one such favorite and I see a similiar counterpart in the current team, in Andy Hinkel.

I think that if WE were top of the league by 10 points witha game in hand, this thread wouldn't be here.

It's only because we arent producing anything decent that people are moaning about the squad
