Aye, I was at the game and at times it was frustrating but reading some of the comments on the match thread's got me thinking the same, greetin faced arseholes.

What more can you expect from our first game of the season, if we had a few more games under our belt that would easily have been 5-0.

I fully expect us to score at least 2 or 3 more over there, this team put 11 men behind the ball last night but over there they need to open up and try to get a goal, queue GMS ripping them to shreds. No danger :50:

Expectations seem to be creeping up to unrealistic levels again IMO. When you really think about it, it's not very realistic to think we should just rock up for our first game of the season (with 2 new players and 2 players back from missing most of last season!) and take 4 or 5 off of a team midway through their season and playing the biggest game of their season (in some cases the biggest game of their careers).

We were comfortable, didn't concede and take a 2-goal cushion up there. Job done. Some folk need to calm their expectations a bit.

Lol, agreed, Bogunta. The first time I've read first game of the season thread all the way through and I was like "*?"

I think Ronnie (once again) summed it up perfectly. Pleased with result overall and disappointed with a few things a bit, but not to the point where your talking like its the end of the world, it was actually a pretty decent result all things considered.

Totally agree, we have no Devine right to just turn up and roll teams over.

It was a solid enough performance and expect us to be even better next week, another week on with Virgil back too.

I hate it when our own fans disrespect other sides it's hunkike not to learn from our mistakes, did people not learn anything from the Legia debacle.

CL is very important to us but our players need to be able to express themselves without our own support being right on top of them.

I don't think its unrealistic or expecting too much, to be putting 4 or 5 in against part timers..

It's not always easy but by the sounds of it last night, we SHOULD be giving these teams no hope. It was quite hairy for a few minutes when they had 2 or 3 chances before we eventually got the second and knocked the heart out of them, and the support was in the same boat, getting restless and groaning at miss placed passes or getting intercepted..

I trust wee mark Wilson's comments about not playing too well, considering he's played with many of that team last night, and Packies judgement..

The draw is Friday and it would have been nice to have been in a position where we could relax, but we still have a mini job to do out there, which I have no doubt we will..

    Onwards and upwards..

    Yip :50:

Some of the comments I heard at the game last night were * disgraceful, a group of people behind me were calling for Ronny and John Collins to be sacked from 20 minutes onwards.

I thought they were joking at first but they kept it going all game, even going as far to say we should have got rid of them last season :97:

Had to use all my strength to not tell the * to shut the * up :31: :smiley-laughing002:

You don't think it's unrealistic? A quick glance at the thread with last night's results or considering our own history in these games tells me it really is.

It's really not. If we score the penalty and take 1 or 2 from a host of chances, half of them straight down the keepers throat, then it could easily have been that score..

It's not easy, as I've stated but let's not kid ourselves on that it's unrealistic to be pumping sides like this..

It's not unrealistic to be "pumping" teams like these (I assume you mean scoreline?), and to be fair, we did pump them in terms of hardly giving them a sniff (bar one hairy-scary moment).

A game of almost total domination in our first competitve game of the season, a 2-0 victory with no away goal conceded is a very, very good score to take over to their own home.

Well to be fair, ronny was hardly enthusiastic with his roar, so that says a lot about what he thought of the game. If you can't decide on a penalty, how can we expect the team to gel well together. :31:

We dominated the whole game, we will not have that luxuary as we progress, we can't afford to miss chance after chance.

It is not unrealistic to pump teams like this, I was hoping for it too; it is unrealistic to expect to pump teams like this in our first game of the season when they are halfway through theirs and more than a third of our team are either new or missed most of last season. It's that kind of expectation, which is shown by all the people moaning, that is unrealistic as you can see by considering how rarely we do pump teams in our first game of the season and by looking at the other results last night.

Could have 4 or 5 but 2-0 at this stage of the season is good enough..

Hope we're away first in the next round, knowing exactly what we need to do helps with crowd patience, who can actually be a hindrance in these tense qualifiers.

Happy with our first competitive match of the season.

It's going to be a long season on TC you can see why a lot of people spend their time in the pub.:smiley-laughing002:
