names for things

ok, just saw the irn bru advert there and made me think of what names people have for things (no funny stuff mind!), so...does anyone call their lunch their dinner and their dinner, tea??

I call my lunch my lunch and my dinner either dinner or tea...

Also, what do you call the remote control, me = the buzzer, but i have heard it being called the doofer?? *?

i call it the box i have no idea why but it only seems to be my family does anyone else call it this?

When I was a wee guy cold meat used to be called gammon.

A common primary school conflab went :

"Whit ye got for your dinner?"

"A roll n gammon and a can o' ginger"

These days it's all ciabattas with cold meat and * smoothies!!!

 

We have bacon & eggs in my house rosario

I hate bein down south when ginger becomes pop gingers ginger
They dont have rolls they have cobs!!!

I call the remote the "geggie" pronounced ge-gay, have absolutely no idea why that may be ! Also call Bacon Ham, as in Ham and Eggs, and call Ham Gammon as in a roll and Gammon.

Its strange why Scots say Ginger when they mean juice, Gingers a root vegetable, and I have no idea why we call it Ginger !! I still do mind you.

* when you think about it, the Scottish folk have some weird names for stuff.

 

lol some crackers there bhoys in my house the tv remote is called the flicker( odd i knw) cant think fo nothing more at the minute but shall add them when i remember lol

Where i grew up it seamed the word everyone used for flairs was shangs has anyone else heard of this .Also ginger bottles were rammies
