While Lille and Bruno Genesio seemed to be counting on him, Mohamed Bayo is hardly playing anymore. A complicated situation to live with, especially since the competition at LOSC is far from being at the level of the other top teams in Ligue 1. The Guinean striker, who wants to play, has strong interest this winter. But the northern club is playing for time and is turning a deaf ear for the moment. Much to the dismay of the supersub who is seriously starting to get impatient

After two incredible seasons with Clermont Foot (22 goals in L2 then 14 in Ligue 1), Mohamed Bayo signed a very big contract with LOSC who broke the bank to recruit him. A change of life for the player trained in Auvergne which will cause a lot of extra-sporting problems and which will prevent him from giving his full measure. Between a very complicated first season and a mixed loan to Le Havre (5 goals in 22 L1 matches), the Guinean international striker (27 selections - 8 goals) returned to the North last summer.

Now married and free from all temptations, Mohamed Bayo, whose attitude has been praised from all sides internally, has convinced Bruno Genesio that he is quite capable of becoming a real alternative in attack. A strong comeback that had precipitated the departure of Serbian striker Andrej Ilic on loan last summer. And the start of the season speaks in his favor. He plays 45 minutes for the season opener against Reims then scores against Angers on the second day a few seconds after coming on at the end of the match. Although he starts in Lille's historic victory on the pitch of Atletico Madrid (1-3) on October 23 and seals the score in the derby against RC Lens 3 days later, Bayo sees his playing time melt like snow in the sun to the great astonishment of many Lille supporters.

It's simple, since the beginning of November, the former Clermont player, now aged 26, has only played 31 minutes on the pitch, even though he is in full possession of his abilities. Worse, he is sometimes left out of the squad by Bruno Genesio. Questioned at a press conference about these repeated exclusions, the French coach explained that he was counting on his striker. "Momo is a player I am counting on. (...) In the last match, he knows why he was not in the squad. But I am someone who is empathetic. He is not excluded from the squad, neither for reasons of departure nor for other things. He will certainly be in the squad this evening for the trip to Auxerre. He is still part of the squad, still part of a solution if necessary to take over from Jonathan David. He knows what he has to do to make it happen like this. We talked about it together, what we said to each other stays between us. He also knows that I am counting on him, which is the most important thing ," he explained before a trip to Auxerre last week

Integrated into the group against AJA and coming on at the end of the match, Mohamed Bayo learned not without surprise that he had not been called up for the match against OM at the Orange Vélodrome while the other LOSC striker Matias Fernandez-Pardo is unavailable for several weeks. The sidelining of too many for one of the most prolific supersubs in Ligue 1 (2 goals in 216 minutes of playing time) who does not understand LOSC's constant about-faces towards him. If he had not planned to leave the North this winter, this artistic vagueness pushes the number 27 of LOSC to imagine all the possibilities including that of a departure according to our information.

And many French and European clubs are eyeing the Lille striker. In addition to SCO Angers and Royal Antwerp, Celtic Glasgow is interested, as well as Las Palmas in Spain and Como in Italy have come to inquire. In France, Montpellier and FC Metz are on the lookout for a loan of a few months. As for the northern club, a departure of their striker under contract until June 2027 is not really a feasible option, especially in the middle of the winter transfer window. Between Fernandez-Pardo's injury and a Jonathan David file that could suddenly get out of hand, LOSC is stalling, much to the dismay of Mohamed Bayo, who only aspires to one thing, namely to play... in Lille or elsewhere.

Big * of a centre forward.

Not looking particularly good for Idah if we're looking at someone with a similar profile.

Sure there was a tenuous link when he was at Clermont. Would take and send Idah away on loan to try and regain some confidence.

At a good enough age to judge his history - doesn't score that many goals for a centre forward at any level hes played.

Interesting even if we are looking at a loan for a striker this window.

If its this type of profile then as above, it doesn't read well for Idah as it doesn't suggest a kyogo replacement. But obviously all rumours.

I wouldn’t be against this particularly if it’s a loan with an option.

His debut season in Ligue 1 saw him score regularly, he is happy taking the ball back to goal and linking play and has a good amount of pace and strength. He works hard off the ball too and looks like a Rodgers type centre forward.

Being kept out Lille’s team by Jonathan David is no disgrace either as he is a very good player.

Souleymane Youla advises Mohamed Bayo to sign for Celtic Glasgow

While a standoff is underway between Mohamed Bayo and the LOSC management, who seem reluctant to let the striker leave this winter despite his desire to relaunch elsewhere, former Guinean international Souleymane Youla has expressed his wish to see his compatriot shine in Scotland.

Indeed, Celtic Glasgow is among the clubs interested in Bayo. In addition to Celtic, several clubs are also in the running, including SCO Angers, Metz and Montpellier in France, as well as Royal Antwerp in Belgium

However, for Youla, the choice is clear, Scotland represents the best opportunity for Mohamed Bayo. The former striker, who knows the demands of European football well, having himself played in France, notably under the colours of Metz and LOSC, confided

If he has to leave Lille, Scotland would be the best destination for Mohamed Bayo, because Celtic Glasgow plays in the Champions League just like LOSC. And above all, it is one of the best clubs in the country, present every year in C1. The Scottish championship is not so bad

As a reminder, Celtic Glasgow are currently 17th with 9 points in the league phase of the Champions League, which places the club in the play-off zone for a potential qualification to the round of 16.

Meanwhile, the winter transfer window is progressing, but no agreement has yet been reached between Mohamed Bayo and his management. The outcome remains to be seen.

Very soon, Lille will play their match of the 18th day of the French championship against OGC Nice. The betting company 1xbet (you can download 1xbet here) offers the following odds for this match – Lille wins at 2.00, a draw is valued at 3.50 and OGC Nice wins at 3.80

Never really got a chance only played 366 mins. 2 goals and 1 assist.

Done well since leaving Celtic. Joint 3rd top scorer in the Championship this season with 10.

Not a new link but The record are quoting French media outlet Sport that Bayo is looking to force a move away from Lille due to a lack of playing time.

It says he done well on his last loan and that convinced Lille to keep him but he is playing back up to Jonathan David and wants to go somewhere to play first team football.

It also mentions he is valued at around £4m by Lille, who are reluctant to sell due to a lack of cover.

Having been sidelined from the Lille squad for several days, Mohamed Bayo still does not know what his future holds this winter.

Mohamed Bayo's (26 years old) situation at LOSC is becoming increasingly tense. After a notable stint at Clermont, where he scored 14 goals in Ligue 1, the Guinean thought he had found his place at Lille. His return to the North in the summer seemed promising, and he had convinced Bruno Genesio of his qualities. He scored in his first matches this season, notably during the historic victory against Atlético Madrid (3-1). However, since the beginning of November, the striker's playing time has been considerably reduced, to the great surprise of the supporters. He has only played 31 minutes and has even been left out of some groups, despite solid performances

Bruno Genesio tried to calm things down, declaring at a press conference: "Momo is a player I'm counting on. He will certainly be in the squad tonight for the trip to Auxerre. He knows what he has to do." However, the situation seems increasingly difficult for Bayo, who is starting to consider leaving. Several European clubs, including Celtic Glasgow, Las Palmas in Spain, and Royal Antwerp, as well as French clubs like Montpellier and Metz, have shown interest in him according to our colleagues at Foot Mercato .

LOSC, for its part, does not seem to want to part with its striker this winter, especially with the uncertainties surrounding Jonathan David and the injury of Matias Fernandez-Pardo. But the uncertainty surrounding his future is starting to weigh heavily on Mohamed Bayo, who no longer hides his desire to find regular playing time, whether in Lille or elsewhere.

The level of club interested in him is a concern. Don't see much in this. At least I hope not.

Despite starting in the UEFA Champions League win over Feyenoord (6-1) on Wednesday night, Mohamed Bayo (26) is still likely to leave Lille OSC before the closure of the transfer window on 3rd February, according to a report from L’Équipe.

Bayo has found gametime extremely different to come by this season. He has been pigeonholed as the No.2 option at Lille. He is behind the immovable Jonathan David in the pecking order. The Canadian looks very likely to leave Les Dogues in the summer on a free transfer with his current deal expiring, however, Bayo is expected to depart first.

Under contact until the summer of 2027, he is the subject of interest from Royal Antwerp in Belgium, however, their interest is now being rivalled by other clubs, who are making concrete steps to sign the No.9. L’Équipe understands that Turkish side Besiktas and Premier League side Ipsiwch have now made concrete steps to sign the player. A decicion is expected to be taken on his future in the coming hours.
