I think it is time we gave Milan Misun his chance at centre back. The guy has a bit of * about him, has good pace and positional sense, and I think he would make a good partner alongside Majstorovic.

After watching Hooiveld last night ( another Mowbray project )
toiling at the back, and looking as slow as a week in jail, I think Lenny has to split them up and bring someone of Misun's quality in at the back.

Too right, i would get johan back there, anybody to get some talent in our defence at long last.

no, no, no! this reminds me of a couple of seasons ago when people were calling for Hutchinson to get a run of games because our main strikers weren't scoring or Josh Thompson when our defence was like a sieve. I don't doubt that Misun is an excellent prospect but what happens when he comes in and makes a mistake or we still conceed stupid goals because of inexperience and a lack of familiarity? Alot of people seem to think the answer is so simple as to just give one player a chance or drop one player at desperate times like this but it would NOT help matters. Lennon sees him every day in training and if he's ready to play he will play. I wouldn't suggest for one minute this is the right time for him to be given a first team slot.

If anyone saw our pre-season game with sporting and the performance misun put in id say he is strong contention to get a start soon! He's been on the bench since ICT i think!!

I seem to recall our doctor venglos saying the exact same about josh Thomson a year or so ago. That worked out well didn't it? Not everything in football can be solved by replacing below par performers with reserved team players.

got to agree. Hooiveld is looking like the Dutch O'Dea with all his talk in the press being followed by playing * on the park. I know its early days but he is looking like a turkey. Rogne or Misun learning beside Majstorovic unless we get someone new in. Yep another Mogga nightmare. Seriously people were so wrong about Caldwell. For all his flaws he is miles better than Jos, captained us, captained his country and captaining an EPL side in his second season there.

I would be shocked if Lenny didnt bring in another centre back, I thought for sure he would have brought Kelvin Wilson in by now. However I think Rogne is the real talent, if only he could stay injury free.

Gary Caldwell sounds like an age ago, i never wanted him to leave, like i always say people dont know what theyve got until its gone, he may not of been the best CB but weve not exactly brought in better

As I said in another post.

Hooiveld has won the league and league cup in his last two clubs for the two seasons before he joined Celtic. He also won defender of the year twice and player of the year once. Hardly the sign of a * player.

I take his past 2 years history over half a dozen games surrounded by bombscares or players hes never more that 3 games with.

As much as I love Misun (having seen him quite a few times in the reserves, rather than just because hes not in the team just now which seems to be the mentality of alot of people on this board) I don't think he should just get thrown in because the whole team were crap last night.

Everyone was so optimistic after the 3 games previous to the Utrecht game...Faithfull Through and Through eh

Yes agree with Dr V and my concern is if we don't, the lad will up and go - I am pretty sure he is in the last year of his contract. He is too good a talent to ignore or let some other Club come in and snaffle, however I think the only place for him in the team is left back as he seems to be No.4/5 down the line for centre back.

Yes, I've been wanting Misun in the defence since pre-season and yes Hooiveld is a turkey. He would be straight into my Celtic dream team of duds.

That's it mate we have to go by trial and error now, but I have seen enough of Hooiveld to know he is a turkey. Another of Mowbray's turkeys. I have seen cheese turn quicker than Hooiveld. I wanted us to sign Solvi Ottesen instead. Ottesen was light years ahead of Hooiveld. I think Misun should be given his chance now, as Rogne good player that he is, is always bedeviled with injuries of one sort or another.

People were down on Caldwell but he was the best player in the country for a season and a half (and POTY), captain of club and country and chased by EPL clubs before the contract thing messed with his head and he had a bad last half season. He was a guy who was prone to the odd blunder but the other 95% of the time he was an excellent battle hardened CH who was an exceptional passer and had exceptional leadership qualities. He hasnt got 2 SPL medals and involved in 2 CL last 16 runs on his CV for nothing. For all the criticism of Gary and Mick they have done things and won more medals, caps etc in the space of 3 years with us than most Celtic players ever do. Fans seem to take delight when Caldwell makes blunder in the EPL but they rate him down there and even made him captain this season. Caldwell for me was a rare rare player who although a CH controlled the game. We were absolutely crazy to let him go IMO.
