We hear people moaning about the lack of pace and ball control. In another thread, somebody said Mizuno played as a forward for the reserves, and that it might not look bad. I've got a better idea:leave Mizuno as a winger, and put Aiden upfront. Aiden's a bit too selfish for a winger, his cross isn't really good(not his left foot cross, at least), but he can dribble and run. If he can improve his shot power, who knows, he may become a good forward.
    Thoughts?

Mcgeadys shots are pretty poor. Better goind down the wing.

he's def not a striker, wastes too much time on the ball, he would end up giving away possesion.

If we played 3 up front then maybe as a wing forward on the left

But he always tries to go solo, and ruins a lot of attacks. Too selfish for a winger. Or too conceited, make of it what you will. We need somebody that knows when to cross, when to make a breakthrough, and when to shoot. McGeady only shoots.:31:

Not a good enough finisher, not strong enough.

too weak and his shots are always powerless and along the ground (with the odd exception that goes hard & very high).

keep him on the wing. wait for maloney to come back and give him a crack up front with jan/sam

I'd say Maloney will be used as a striker if needed

Totally agree with the fact his shot is not good enough. Hes not the biggest guy in the world, and i dont really think he is suited to playing up front. Maloney is back or just about, so i would give him a chance up front. hes got a crackin shot, hes quick and strong. Either that or let mcgeady borrow his shot!

I know were your coming from mate, his cross lacks the final touch and he is selfish with the ball. In saying that he is not a good enough finisher, shots not strong enough.

He'll eventually become an attacking centre mid I think, don't think he has the right attributes for a striker and in fact would probably be wasted there.

Shooting is probably the weakest part of his game so for that reason no. Maloney would add everything that McGeady could with the added bonus of being a natural goal scorer so I would prefer him up front.

I think in some circumstances McGeady would best be deployed up front. Although under Strachan my plan is kind of foiled.

Example being, say Man United at Old Trafford. We steal a goal on the stroke of half-time to make it 1-0 after a half of ManU dominance. I would suggest at some stage in the second half to play McGeady either off the striker or up front by himself (although with the heavy pressure expected "up front" wouldn't really be correct. More like "furthest player forward" as I'd expect our striker would be on the edge of our own third with the heavy pressure.

When we eventually win the ball on the break McGeady is probably our only player who can take the ball at his feet, hold it, and run into dangerous areas and take people on. It would take a lot of pressure off the defence methinks.

Apart from my speculated away game scenarios, theres no real reason to play him upfront at all I'm afraid.

if he doesnae get his finger oot his overhyped * i would not
    play him at all .
consistency is the key here and wee huffy baws is not consistent enough
to warrant a regular starting place never mind a debate as to were we play him ??????

Larsson started his career out wide(think on the left as well) so it wouldn't be the most stupid of plans. Although like most, his shot power seems suspect, but then again, how many times has he been able to make space for himself in the box, and often isnt too shy to take a pop from outside the box, of which a few go in. He could be developed for the position, who knows.

I keep bringing this game back up, but the Feyenoord game during pre-season was one of our best performances in the last 9 months. That game was played as a 4-3-3 with Mcgeady, Jan, Sammy as the 3 forward players. We playd brilliant football, and scored 3 goals that day against a good opposition. Unfortunately we have NEVER tried this again since, even though it looked a good free flowing game. The style of football Strachan keeps talking about playing....but doesn't.

His finishing could be better would rather we kept him in midfield,as for wee Koki i really would like to see him getting put out on the wing it's a shame he hasn't had a look in since the huns game.

    Dan, midfield of,

    McGeady, Naka, Brown, Mizuno ????
as a constant attacking option, with some great passing football, and killer drive from Brown.
Change Brown for Crosas to add a stronger defense attribute.
