    Good to see him back in work, I no people will say a lot about this appointment in the media but he was the guy I wanted this summer to replace Lennon I wish him luck and hope he can put all the texting stuff behind him and move on with the job of getting Wigan moving up the table

    Wigan owner Dave Whelan has apologised for remarks he used in a controversial newspaper interview.
    In defending new manager Malky Mackay, Whelan made comments about Jewish and Chinese people described as "offensive" by West Ham owner David Gold.
    "If I have upset one person, I apologise," said Whelan, who believes he was misquoted by The Guardian.
    Anti-racism campaigner Kick It Out has questioned whether Whelan is a "fit and proper person" to run a football club.
    To read a full transcript of BBC Sport's interview with Dave Whelan scroll to the bottom of this story.
    Labour MP Ivan Lewis has also called for the Football Association to take the "toughest possible action" against the Latics chairman.
    Whelan is quoted using the term "*" in his newspaper interview. The Guardian also claims the 77-year-old businessman said: "Jewish people chase money more than everybody else."

    How daft could he be?

    Dont understand what all the fuss is about, Dave Whelan is a great guy and what he says is the truth and people just dont want to accept that fact.

    Stokes obviously, or Johansen
    His comments were brilliant and were true as *. :56:

    I honestly find it hard to believe that there's some who've never referred to an Asian man as a "*" in their lives. Also what he said about the Jews wasn't insulting either, almost complementary. Far too many overly PC people about nowadays. Some just love being offended.

    Youre right, theres a big difference between saying " I got a loaf of bread out the pakies" and being in the Klu Klux Klan :smiley-laughing002:

    Although the way some people react they both are the same thing :smiley-laughing002:

    I also agree that some people are going overboard to be offended.

    I like DW and i wish MM all the best.I am basing this on my gut feeling that both are decent guys, and MM in particular just made a stupid mistake.....and that neither are racist deep down.

    PC gone * Mad. It appears a slip of the tongue or some "Honest comments" makes you a * jihadist these days.
    If we drive guys like Whelan out of football and are happy with the Vincents Tans of this world, then * help us all.

    Good Luck to both. :shamrock::celt_2:
