Was quiet today but wasn't in the same category as Idah and Taylor as players who were shocking and rightfully hooked. Created our only best chance of the half. Understand why Hatate came on though.

He's a good player and I'm glad we bought him

He was ineffective today but he's been fairly consistent this season.

As others have said, at worst he's still an excellent squad player.

I think if McGregor wasn't the captain there's an argument he should've been off instead of McCowan.

I don't think McCowan has been used enough really, doesn't seem like Brendan trusts him.

BR literally said we need to improve our squad , so we can bring real quality off the bench straight after the Munich away game. The three CMs were blowing out their arses and he didnt want to bring McCowan on at that level. He was brought in for domestic rotation.

Raith game aside, I have not been impressed with McCowan for a decent while now. He wasn’t the worst today but when you add him to a team with a lack of physicality, it really shows off the ball.

I think overall he has been a good signing and more than played his part this season but of late I don’t think he has been hitting his earlier in the season level.

He's still in the transition stage of playing for a club our size.

Never fails to amaze me how harshly we judge the people trying to step up to our level from smaller clubs or lesser leagues... It's a huge ask for them to go to flawless every game, twice a week, for an entire year... Yet, when we persevere, they usually massively improve, even if not enough to become mainstay with us... Look at folk like Ralston, Scales etc... Absolutely fine squad players, from nothing like good enough when they started. We could('ve) flip(ped) either for a huge profit on what we got them for. Even Maeda and Trusty were getting chased not so long ago...

I think he's fine, and he'll improve, and we'll never be sorry we signed him... Everybody just give him a break and a chance!

McCowan has shaded in recent games, I was expecting a bit more from him tbh, in particular in taking control of things in the midfield. Maybe he is living in the shadow of McGregor too much, and needs to assert himself a bit more in games, because he has got it in him, as we have seen when he excelled with Dundee.

I like him, he's gutsy and a real Celtic man, maybe the current midfield mix is still not right for him to truly shine.

  8. I'm absolutely making * up of course, but it just feels like something is off.

As if he just isn't really trusted by Rodgers at all

Anonymous. Should really be staking a claim but didn't. Back to the subs bench.

Come on to * lads, it’s probably his only bad performance, and it wasn’t even one you could label a shocker, more quiet and struggled to make an impact or get on the ball.

Up until that first half everytime we’ve seen him he’s impressed, and it’s been minutes here and there, and starting here and there but never consistently. And that’s * hard to be as consistent as he has been when that’s the chances you get to show your ability.

it’s actually ok to have the odd off day, and that’s what it was for him. The criticism of him when I opened this thread was genuinely surprising, it’s critical like that performance is his normal type and not the outlier that’s pretty much a one off from him so far. A poor 45 minutes suddenly has him as the manager not trusting him? That’s * mad that

He needs to start against sheep midweek, just to shake yesterdays * show out of his system.

He was quiet but his ball over the top for Daizen (I think) from the right touchline was an absolute beauty and probably the highlight of a thoroughly uninspiring first half.

Need to stick by him, we are thread bare in midfield right now, Cal and Engles running on fumes.

One thing I will say for McCowan is I believe he struggles with the 8’s playing wide. That is surprising given he was a winger before but I actually think McCowan excels picking the ball up centrally where he can play through balls or get shots off, out wide I think it stifles his game.

He is also very ineffective off the ball and easily outmatched physically. As mentioned I my previous post I think overall he has done well but has struggled of late, Raith game aside.

Lack of real pace is hindering him in our midfield.

At 27, McCowan needs runners beside him. He's got McGregor 31, and Hatate 27, not exactly the fastest runners either.

I really like him... he nearly always picks the right pass and very rarely gives the ball away..

Never mentioned him in the match thread, thought he was pretty busy and tidy on the ball when he came on. Feel like he comes on and just slots in and goes under the radar most of the time, which is actually a compliment.
