Right, I just got my letter from Virgin about all the downloading I do lol. I don't know too much about all this stuff so was just wondering, what are the chances of them actually taking any sort of action against me if I continue to do it and is there any way to get round it? I'm always either downloading torrents or off Limewire so I'm sort of stuck for what to do now...:31:

I know, it's *! They actually attached a "Downloading Report" or something with the letter saying what I had downloaded, the time I downloaded it at and what I used to download it on whatever day they carried out their stupid investigation:31: Ohh and they also sent a letter from The British Record Industry Body or something which basically just told me to stop downloading:47: Lol

I wouldn't say I download THAT much, just about the same as the average person. Whatever singles that are out that I like and the odd few albums, I don't download movies or programs or anything so not that much of a huge offender. Seems like they are just sending them to whoever they can catch out.

    Nightmare.

I dont really do much downloading the now, just the odd album, but if I get a letter i'll be telling them where to get off and going to one of the companies that didnt sign up for this *.

A good buddy of mine told me theres a new thing coming out anyway, along the same lines as the chipped box, that you can plus in as opposed to your standard Virgin modem and it scrambles your IP so they dont know what your up to.

The pirates, be it downloading, dodgy Sky or Cable, are always, ALWAYS, smarter than the companies. A few months ago all the dodgy cable boxes were wiped out by Virgin, and they were convinced they had cracked it. They were all back on within 3 days !!!

It's zm's dad here, he's away at the game and left the computer on so I could watch that guy on this site's stream. He got one of these letters the other day from Virgin aswell, he explained it to me so I think he'll tell you more about it when he gets home.

I would send them a letter back saying your moving ISP's and blockign any further payment to them for breaching privacy.

Surely that is a brach of privacy, these resorces are there to track down pedos and the link, but as usual protecting big business money is more important than putting pedos in jail :31:

If I was you I would block any further payment to them now and find a new host.

Bit of both, mainly Limewire though and started using Frostwire a bit there. Then occasionally I'll download off the torrents, just BitTorrent or whatever. It's just I don't really know where I stand, should I just continue downloading or start being more cautious and really hold back? :87:

legally virgin cant do a * thing to you, it's once the record companies whose music you're downloading come after you you need to start worrying. Heard a story the other day that one of the big ones went after a guy in the states and the boy ended up getting fined funny money. * them though, all music should be free!

Have you a d/l limit? Cos i saw a week ago the record companies can spot an ip address that is d/ling music and ask the service provider to write a letter warning you to stop but it hinkk that is all they can do.

Even if you have so called 'uncapped' internet access these days, ISP's have come up with a 'fair use policy' which means if you download more than they like you downloading, they cripple your bandwidth and adjust your speed so that when you reach a certain amount per month or whatever, your upstream/downstream speeds will be limited at peak times. :38:
