Manager jumps the queue to thank season ticket holders
By: Newsroom Staff on 06 May, 2011 15:44
SUPPORTERS queuing up at Celtic Park today to renew their season tickets got a big surprise when Neil Lennon and some of the first-team squad turned up to meet them.

The Celtic manager brought along Gary Hooper, Ki, Thomas Rogne, Cha and James Forrest to meet fans and thank them for their continued support of the team.

And the Hoops boss paid tribute to the backing his team has received, home and away, all season, as well as thanking fans for the support they’ve given him on a personal level.

“It’s obviously very pleasing to see so many people here today,” Neil Lennon said, “and I know that thousands of supporters have already renewed their tickets for next season.

“It’s testament to the team and the performances they’ve put on this season that people want to come back and see them again next season.

"There’s been a great connection between the players and the supporters this season and we hope that carries us through to the end of the season when we can hopefully pick up some silverware.

“The atmosphere is great at Celtic Park and throughout the season the support has been magnificent home and away, and it’s what Celtic is all about.

"It’s the reason why I love the club and I want to pay tribute to the supporters for everything they’ve done, not just for the team but for me personally.

“The players really appreciate the efforts the fans do make, and we just wanted to come down and see them and thank them in person today.”

James Forrest said: “Obviously a lot of it is to do with how we’ve done this season although nothing’s won yet, and we just want to try and win the championship for these fans."

And Thomas Rogne added: “The support has been amazing all season and we just want to thank them because they’re our twelfth man.”

I'm not that long in from the ticket office. Spent an hour and a half queueing up for my Cup final ticket so I must have just missed Lenny and the Bhoys, gutted! :38:

Think this is a really good gesture though, hopefully Lenny will be here next season to continue his great work :50:

Well done Neil. I remember Tommy Burns doing something similar and I met him at the ticket office. Brilliant gesture!
