I do think he is worth 8 million, but if we are spending that on one man I would like a little younger and better!

I would pay 8 miilion for him if his wages were reduced. But 8 million plus 65 grand a week with no champions league income and no guarentee of season tickets sales it would be a * of a risk.

I wouldn't like to see Celtic splashing cash to sign player in position that's not urgent to be strenghtened. I'd like us to see spend money elsewhere and strenghten other areas of our team.

Keane is very good player, best player at Parkhead we've had in quite a while. He's been here for only three and a half months, but we all know what he's capable of. Fantastic player and a stand-out in our squad, consistency isn't an issue too.

But then comes the financial side... We simply cannot compete with Sunderland and Aston Villa in financial terms, so even if by some miracle he decided to consider staying in Glasgow, he'd be dragged by greens down south.

Not to mention playing on meadows of SPL, playing in Europa League and generally playing in * league with * refs etc. Plus, he has chance of playing in CL with Spurs, that'll huge factor in his decision to stay/return to London.

I think people have realised how to play against him. At the start teams were playing quite high lines. Keane is much quicker than any defender in the SPL and also he is cleverer than them aswell so all we needed was a through ball and we would get him in on goal.
Now teams are having a defensive line on their 18 yard box so that any ball played through the keeper should come and collect and therefore Keane is getting fewer chances.
But if we had midfielders that can strike a ball well then teams would have to abolish there deep line because the midfield have alot more time to get a shot away!

Yes if we had lots of money but i would rather spend it on cheaper individuals to improve the team overall than Keano.

Spot on mate I would rather spend that money on 3 or 4 players.robbie is a great player but as we have seen already we don't have the players to play to his strengths

No, he's a great player, but he's getting old, and tbh he's been anonymous in quite a few big games, I'd think someone (naybe forrest) to fill in the cf position who is youngish would be good, so we aren't just throwing money into the position, we are also investing if/when we move him on

A few years younger and fully fit you would be looking at 8million, he will get a club in the EPL next who can afford his big wages !

visibly not the player he was a few years ago and too old to shell out the kind of money they would want. 5 miliion would seem a more realistic price but that is still to rich for us. Then of course there are wages. A 3 year contract would cost about 12 million too at his current wages. The board would have to be insane to spend 20 million on one player for 3 years on our sort of budget

Even if we could find £8m (& that is a big IF) I doubt, first off, that the board would sanction £65k p.w. wages, as I can't see Desmond footing the bill for an extended term. And secondly, I very much doubt Keane (&/or his g/f) would be wanting to continue to stay up here.

The pity is, if he wants to add to his career medal tally an extended stint up here would be much more likely to achieve this than a return to the EPL. Yet the reality is that playing for Celtic was simply a box that he wanted to tick off in his career 'to do' list. Just be glad that he did it when there were still plenty of miles in his legs and we got to see him at close to the peak of his powers, rather than at the tailend of his career, like what his namesake did.
