Apparently the deal is progressing according to this:

JOTA SALE TO CELTIC IS ADVANCING
    Benfica - 12:30
    By Writing

Benfica and Celtic continue to advance the process of Jota, Portuguese striker that the embodied lent in the summer to the team from Glasgow, Scottish city.

The club has already assumed that it wants to keep the footballer and a call option clause in the order of €7.5 million will serve as a starting point for negotiation.

The player, it should be noted, recently went to Seixal to treat a muscle injury, an issue that is not new, as he also dealt with a physical problem at the Eagles training center when he was on loan at the Spanish club Valladolid, in the first half of 2021.

Got to work on depth so we aren’t overplaying him. In fact just so we aren’t overplaying the whole squad.

I'd be lot happier if this is done this January rather than let it rumble on. The lad is a benfica supporter and if benfica want to hold on to him all they have to do is get him to refuse our offer.

I can't see him joining. Would love it but dont think he will.

Maybe if we get into the champions league.

The only thing we have going for us Everton (not the club, the Benfica winger) is their first team left winger and they paid 18 million pounds for him.

He is their first choice, They even loaned someone else at left wing before giving Jota some game time.

You would like to think Jota will jump at the chance to be playing first team football at a club like Celtic.

    only time will tell.

Celtic appear to be stepping up their bid to land Jota on a permanent deal despite returning to Benfica.

The 22-year-old had been one of the outstanding performers during the current campaign with eight goals to his name and seven assists before picking up a hamstring injury.

Celtic have an option to buy him for £6.5million as part of the loan deal and if his form so far signals it could be a bargain.

But the winger has been out since the start of December having pulled up against Hearts, and Benfica had brought the talent back to the club's training complex to be assessed.

He was ordered back home by Benfica's medical staff to check on his injury recovery plan with the Lisbon club's physios and was pictured at their Seixal training complex.

The move comes as Benfica reserve manager Nelson Verissimo, who was Jota's manager when he played for their second string team, has taken over first-team duties from axed Jorge Jesus

During his time in charge, Jesus was criticised by fans in Lisbon over failing to give youth a chance in the starting line-up and Verissimo will look to sort that quickly.

However, concerns over a recall from his loan in the Premiership won't be happening, all roads now appear to lead the winger to Parkhead for the long term

A Bola report that Celtic and Portuguese giants are now in advanced talks over a permanent switch for the forward.

They state that the £6.5million is the "starting point" for a deal between the clubs.

It is also noted that Jota's return to the Seixal Training Centre is only to assess the injury issue, after a similar return to his parent club
while on loan at La Liga outfit Real Valladolid.

Some window this will be if we secure Jota, CCV and the three Japanese boys.

I have bad feeling Jota will hold out to see what is available to him at the end of season. If he continues to play the way he has so far there will be EPL clubs interested. The lure of the over-hyped EPL and big money may prove too much for him to turn down. Obviously I hope im wrong but I can see it playing out that way. Our best chance is to sign him now but no doubt there will be an agent in the background telling him to hang fire.

History has told us that Jota should be careful, he came from relative obscurity and could return there just as fast if he leaves Celtic. He could become the Portuguese Paddy Roberts, a player who was excellent for us but disappeared into lower league oblivion when he decided the grass was greener on the other side.

We still need more bodies in.

But it would be superb to sign Jota and CCV this window.

If there's ever been a 'no-brainer' in both a sporting and financial sense, this is it.

The boy is the real deal and will go for multiples of the agreed fee after hopefully several successful seasons.

It's possibly been posted before. But Jota's first half season montage is one to enjoy.

He's reminds me of the good seasons we enjoyed when Patrick Roberts, Scott Sinclair took people on and beat them. Jota has got it all.

Celtic fans adore the wingers. He's the main man. Sign him up.

    Jinky Jota on the wing!

    More hopeful than i was.

Hopefully hes not as gullible as Benfica think he is.
Comparatively speaking, they treated him very poorly. Loaning him out, faffing him about, warming the bench one day, not near the squad the next.

Hes seems wise enough (hopefully) to realise that you dont look a gift horse in the mouth. Hes became a sensation here in the space of WEEKS. Name ringing out in European football and in UK press. Enjoying his football, bagging goals, getting the plaudits.

Only a fool would go back to Benfica. He took on the loan KNOWING it was a doorway to a permanent move. So unless Benfica are about to throw stupid money at him and guarantee a place in their first 11....hes coming home.
