Would love him back, but has there even been any links, I haven’t seen any half decent source, or even a dodgy one for that matter, linking us recently?!

Olympiakos have opened negotiations with Rennes in an attempt to secure Jota's loan, according to Maisfutebol .

Before thinking about the Portuguese winger, the Greek club had already approached Englishman Marcus Edwards, who was leaving Sporting

The former Benfica, Valladolid, Celtic and Al-Ittihad player is out of the French club's plans and has therefore been placed on the expendable list by Argentine coach Jorge Sampaoli

At 25, Jota arrived at Rennes at the start of the season, after a short spell at Saudi side Al-Ittihad

Grand old team to play for
Or maybe after 2 failed moves, he'd like to come back to the club where he was valued and played the best football of his career.

Even if we spent that we’ve still made a profit on him. :56:

Highlights from a previous Dundee game Jota was cracking. Bring him home, it’s a no brainer. Assuming he wants to come back. Not sure why he wouldn’t, we’re on the rise

He's in danger of becoming a journey man already. I don't usually care too much about what happens a player once they leave Celtic but he definitely seems to be wasting his talent and career since leaving us.

The grass isn't always greener, back balance might be though

He's an idiot if he doesn't want to come back here and we're idiots if we don't want him back here.

    £6m would get him and it's a * steal.

I hope we want him back and I hope he has a CCV moment where he knows this is the place for him after moving pillar to post since leaving us.

Would be brilliant if we got him back. The price would be about the same as we originally paid Benfica for him too so fine with that.

The transfer window is far from over at Stade Rennais. While it still intends to be active between now and the end of the transfer window, which is set for February 3, 2025 in France, the Breton club has decided to reduce its training group by setting up a loft made up of several "undesirables". The day after the humiliating defeat in the Coupe de France in Troyes (0-1), the sports management, through the voice of Frédéric Massara, called several players together on Thursday, January 16, to announce that they would now train away from the group, at staggered times, while waiting for a solution to be found this winter.

According to our information, at least five players are involved, including Baptiste Santamaria and Gauthier Gallon, who, in L'Est Éclair, declared this week that he was open to leaving after the signing of Brice Samba

Jota, Albert Gronbaek and probably Glen Kamara, who is slightly injured and was not in the squad for the trip to Aube, could also be there. Rennes hopes that all these players will find a way out in the coming days.

Mental. Gronbaek was another I’d have loved us to go for, looked brilliant when we were linked

Is that another highly rated Bodo player that failed outside Norway?

Love the old Celtic Jota, absolute game changer that would be great for us now.

but given he's been pretty aggressively frozen out at 2 different clubs by the coach, more recently for not being fit enough - is he now the same player we had?

Wonder what it is…. Obviously one thing it does show is Knutsen is an incredible manager getting a tune out of all those players who then go on to do nothing

I think it is fit of move for a lot of the players and jumping straight to a top 5 league.

Hauge - Milan was too big a jump but he still showed flashes.
Solbakken - Roma too big a jump and get the impression he is a player that is the maverick in a structured team.
Berg - has cemented himself as a regular Norwegian international. Lens just seems like the wrong move.
Vettlesen - done fine last year, I just think he doesn’t fit how they play the now and competes with Vanaken, their captain who was a very good player for his preferred position, both Jashari and especially Onyedika were very good too.
Gronbaek - signed for Rennes and they have been a bin fire, they have also been playing him as part of a front 3 rather than in midfield. I would take him in a heart beat from Rennes.
Zinckernagel - done fine in Championship, Belgium and now gone to MLS.
Bjorkan - signed for a terrible Hertha Berlin who got relegated and he never really got a chance.
Boniface - big success now at Leverkusen.
Botheim - was actually a poor player and they done well to get what they did for him.

So I don’t think it’s as easy as saying everyone that left is actually a poor footballer, don’t get me wrong I think some are but I would say the biggest factor is too big a jump straight away and the other is poor fit where they go to such as Hooper leaving us to go to Norwich, Jota going to Rennes via Saudi etc.

I actually think we would be a very good next step for Bodo/Glimt players.

An increasing number of Salzburg and Leipzig recent sales have been having a similar down turn when they leave Red Bull.
