Felt all the wingers on both sides struggled with the pitch today but particularly Jota

the pitch seemed to cut up, was dry and very long grass. That’s a nightmare for someone like Jota who runs at speed with the ball

wait till he plays them at Celtic park you will see the difference

that pitch for a national stadium is a joke

    Agreed.

Luckily the next Derby is at Celtic Park. Groundsmen need to make sure the grass is beautiful.

Not at the races the day, but he will
Pick himself up and get a performance in soon enough.

He’ll never be at his best on the right wing. It doesn’t feed into his natural game.

Him and Daizen need to swap, because it doesn’t stymie Maeda as much even though both are better on the left.

But * the performance, see him after the game, he gets it man. He’s bought right into being a major * Tim.

And I’ll enjoy for as long as he’s here because as much as we don’t want it to happen, he won’t be here for a long time.

EDIT: just had a wee look, 9 games this year on the right 1 assist, 16 off the left 7 assists.

3 goals on the right and 4 on the left though. But think that tracks with the general point, he is far more comfortable, creative and happy on the left

To say he was poor is going too far. Quiet I would say. If nothing else it was worth it for the nutmeg on Kent.

His end product first half was abysmal and whilst Maeda’s was similar you get unmatched work rate in the opposite direction off Daizen.

Jota is much, much, better than he showed yesterday. Therefore a definite poor performance.

Wasn't his best performance. The pitch had a lot to do with our wingers final ball in my opinion. It was an absolute disgrace.

He did have an off game yesterday. His chance in the first half was better than it originally looked. I'm not quite sure what he tried to do.

I remember earlier in the season his xA was higher from the RW but not sure what it looks like now.

Can’t be now, he literally has only the one from there and he doesn’t create much from that position. It doesn’t quite look natural for him.

He is often hit or miss against them. Was poor yesterday.

That's the thing with analytic data, can often tell a different story to the eye test. Just because he has only 1 assist from the RW doesn't mean he might not have a higher xA from there.

With outcome data like assists it doesn't say anything about chance quality. You could make a 5 yd side pass to someone and they could beat 3 men and top corner it from 30 yds and that would count as an assist. On the other hand someone could make great chance after great chance in the central penalty box area but all those high quality chances could be missed.

As I said, I don't have the current data, I'm curious myself - hopefully someone has.
