ive noticed recently on bbc sport that riise is probably going to leave liverpool during the transfer window for around 5 million. Newcastle have been interested and so have Roma (who look like they will get him) but i think celtic should put a 6 million bid in for him. he's still only 27 and has got quite a bit to go and i know people will say oh but the own goal against chelsea oh no dont go near him but one dodgy own goal doesnt make you a bad player. in my opinion he is better than fabio auerellio and definatley better than naylor who is no past it a wee bit and is getting knocks nearly every game. i think he'd be a geat signing and would definately knock a few goals in plus hes another threat from free kicks :celt_2:

Roma are lining up a £3m bid for Liverpool defender John Arne Riise. (Daily Mirror)

what do you think ? :icon_mrgreen:

i dont know but probably pretty high since he's playing for one of "the big four" and if hes leaving they will go up but if we sell all the players we never use like donati, riordan and balde then we'll have saved up enough pennies hopefully lol :D

his wages would kill us and i dont think he would come to scotland, thats the stumbling block in playing in a poor league with only 1 BIG TEAM

Can't believe he's indeed only 28. I thought he was like 34. he seems to be around forever.

Yeah true i doubt he would be interested in coming to us if he has the chance to play in serie a for Roma, they will also be able to offer him better wages than us. :38:

I think he would be a great signing but I agree with the rest of you that his wages would be too hih and he will probably prefer to play in a better league

we haven't spent £5m+ on a player since 2001. 7 years ago. we would never spend £6m on a left back, it would probably be 30%-50% of our budget, especially for one who has crossed the half way line of his career. oh, plus his £75k a week wages. he won't take a 50% wage cut. no chance. no point even discussing it.
