Jock Stein 20th anniversary tribute

10th September tribute.

As you all probably know,this Satutday marks the 20th anniversary of the late, great Jock Stein. In his memory, i would like it if all members posted a pic of the big man as their avatars this week. easy option is to go to google type his name under the image gallery and save to your pc. Your cooperation would be great.

maybe so, but it would be great if ever active member could do it. its not the only way to get the pics of stein, there are quite a few sites where they can be found.

A few have started already, if you havent done so already please use Stein as your avatar.

bit young to remember the big man so any stories for the younger/foreign members from the oldies would be grand!

 

What a man i can remember that night very well we got a pen then well i think every tim knows what a sad night for everone,anyway i was reading in todays sun+daily mirror that celtic are asking celtic fans at the home game on saturday(big jock against Aberdeen they want the supporters 2 deliver a round off applause in memory of jock stein,rather than a minute silence they want the home support too do a Italian style clapping session before the kick-off,i can still see a minute silence bhoys they are going 2 show a memorial film 4 us 2 see on the big screen+the Lisbon Lions will go on the pitch too+give there respect aswell+in Cardiff at Ninian Park aswell there doing something at the spot were jock stein died doesn;t seem 20yrs bhoys?

NEXT Saturday, September 10, marks the twentieth anniversary of Jock Stein’s death. The legendary Celtic manager, who was boss of Scotland at the time, tragically died after suffering a heart attack during a World Cup qualifying match against Wales in Cardiff.



And to mark the anniversary of his death, Celtic have planned a number of events at the game against Aberdeen.



The club has been in discussion with the Celtic Supporters’ Association, and a special banner will be displayed by fans before the game. A number of the Lisbon Lions will also be in attendance at the game.



The matchday programme will have a special section on Jock Stein, including a poster of the great man with his European Cup winning side.



Photographer Hugh Birt has kindly allowed the programme to reproduce his wonderful picture of the greatest team in the history of the club.



And a special tribute film on Jock Stein will also be shown on the big screens. It celebrates the achievements of the Celtic boss, whose side won nine league titles in a row as well as scaling the heights of Europe, and the film is something not to be missed.
