Do PSV actually think we have enough money for Vennegoor of Hesselink? Jungle bhoys sum celtic up with his statement

    POLICY STATEMENT
The Jungle Bhoys are non sectarian and non political. We welcome supporters of all faiths and none and we abhor ALL forms of sectarianism and racism. We remain justifiably proud of our club's Irish Catholic roots and we are equally proud of our non sectarian policy.

    MILK WAS A BAD CHOICE..
    Hi Bhoys n Ghirls!

Just signed up to this forum, as it looks like we may may have some quality additions to discuss...

Undoubtedly, it would be an excellent transfer coup if we could secure JoH, Tymoschuik (sp) or both! The latter, in particular, is severely underated in the English press, and am surprised that the likes of Blackburn, Newcastle haven't been after him. That means that we would have many of a first 11 that could stand a fair chance of making the ko stages of the CL. Nakamura, Jarosik, Tymoschuik, JOh, Zurawski, McGeady, Maloney, Boruc, Balde (Petrov!) are all world class or very near it. Granted, though, our strength in depth is shockingly poor.

Yet why, oh why did we let Sutton leave ? I can't fathom it! He is/was better than JoH, who is a v good player himself. I'm sure there are lots of thoughts elsewhere on this forum about the team/transfer policies of Strachan (if he has any). Probably a lot to do with ego and wanting to stamp out the embers of O'Neills great side. He worries me with his apparent lack of a plan. He says things like "tactics are nonsense".. "its good players that make good teams".. Ok, good players help, but the local drunk could come up with that managerial masterplan. I read a lengthy article Martin Jol wrote about the different block patterns that characterised the teams at the World Cup, and clearly pinpointed how England looked so bad compared to the rest. GS looks like Coco the Clown compared to this type of thinking!

Just on the subject of a dutchman, why are some accepting that PSV have had a better team for the last ten years? Yes, if they played last year I think PSV would be far too mobile, but don't forget that O'neills team should have won the Uefa Cup, harshly beaten by Portos best ever side (which won the CL next year). Got results from every European team to come to Celtic Park, unbeaten in almost 70 consecutive matches at home. Very unlucky not to qualify 2 or 3 times for the ko stage of the Cl with 9 points. Who's to say what could have happened in the ko stage when teams come to Celtic Park? Speak up guys!

It's madness to argue that PSV are bigger than Celtic. I remember an article in GQ or Esquire magazine few years back that projected the financial and footballing implications of the Old Firm joining the English Premiership. It concluded that Celtic would overtake Man Utd as the worlds biggest club within 5 years.

I think I may have the mag in the attic somewhere, so I'll def get back with a ref if I can!

Anyway, hopefully we'll hear something definate on the transfer front in the next day or two. JoH and Tymoschuik, and we could really leave the Forces of Darkness trailing in our wake!

PS. As one of those dual fans (Celtic/Spurs), I detest it when the English clubs nick the Celtic song!!!! Spurs and Everton were at it last year...

    PPS. Up Tyrone..
    Hail, Hail.. :celt_2:

If PSV are asking for 5mill we've no chance of signing him. They would have to drop that to at least 2.5/3 million for celts to do business imo.

I think there is about 5.5 million to spend but I dont know if Gs has the bottle to spend it on 1 player

How did you come up with that figure?
And even if it were right, he can't spend it on 1 player coz we need at least another 3.

Vennegoor's a good player and would defo improve our team, but do we really have a chance of getting him or is this just another scam by Lawell to say look we tried to get the player but the club suddenly upped the price or the player demanded too much money. It's gone quiet after we were reportedly interested in him, it annoys me when our hopes are built up then we go and resign Dion * Dublin(please * no). I hope im wrong.

You must bid 5M pound... So I think you can forget VoH.
Players you can compare with VOH.

Moussa Dembele- AZ Alkmaar (great talent! Real Madrid was interested but he went to AZ, now around 3M pound I think)
Morten Skoubo- Real Sociadad (around 2M pound)
    Angelos Charisteas- Ajax(around 2M pound)
    Zigic-Red Star (I don't know the price)

Only Dembele has the talent to become a great player.
    And maybe Kerzhakov
