Samaras was overall a good player. But lack of consistency saw him chased out of town. Forrest is much the same for me!

Been a bit * recently but still had a decent season.

I'm sure he will come good again.

I think my opinion of him has gone in the opposite direction to most people on here. In Lennon's last season I didn't rate him at all and wanted him sold. All he ever did was cut inside and try a stupid looking Ronaldo chop to get onto his right foot as he literally refused to use his left.

Now, I really enjoy watching him. He's become much more direct in his style of play when running at people and tries to get to the byline to cross or cut inside and get a shot off with his left foot.

We have a few decent players this season like Tierney and Griffiths but he's the only person that is exciting to watch. He might still not have the final ball but he's improved so much in other aspects of his game such as his weaker foot.

He's not been good overall this season. First month or so he was playing well but for a while now he's been pish.

Has zero final ball and he's a total *.

His final ball has been getting better, he has been defending a lot more this season and working harder off the ball.

And he is not pish, far from it. He has been our best out ball in Europe, for all that is worth.

He should always play in European matches for us , as you say he is the only good outball we have ( the same way Samaras used to be ), and is an effective player to have if we are looking to counter attack. Domestically he may be best as an impact sub , he seems to struggle against * teams.

Same as Sammy he loves running into wide open spaces. Against packed defences he struggles a bit.

I do think he has a bit more than Sammy in that respect though, better first touch and can link up a lot better.

Sammy was more of a big game player though.

Sammy had an extra gear at times. Infuriating that you never knew which Sammy would turn up. Forrest hasn't shown that so far.

I think he's pish. Aye he's been a bit better this season and has tested defences with his pace but what has he actually done?? He doesn't score enough goals or set up as many as he should. An option for the 65th minute coming off the bench at most, shouldn't be good enough to be in our starting 11.

Has everything in his locker to be a very good player.

Sadly, i think his overall attitude is as poor as his decision-making.

    He's a really frustrating player.

On his game he is literally unplayable. The frustrating thing is these games are outweighed by his poor games.

It shows how poor a team we have been if some are saying he's been the best, or one of the best players this season.

He's had an injury free spell now, so hopefully his attitude changes too and we see a lot more of the player we know he can be.

He reminds me of Aiden McGeady where there was so much potential but rarely showed it .
I just wish some team would offer big money so we can get rid of him but that won't happen on his current form .

Sometimes I think we're expecting a bit too much of him, we are playing him so he's one dropping to the halfway line to pick up the ball and make something happen. We should be working it into him high up the pitch, when he's more isolated on a defender. He's happy to go by players but I think we need to work him into that space rather than him beating men to create his own.

I'm not sure I agree with that.

If we expect him to be high up the pitch then it means we are camped in the opposition half. It seems more the Deila way is to play out from the back, therefore wide players dropping deeper to look for the ball.

It was evident far too often for me at Tynecastle, where we played the ball back to our centre back's, sometimes from the opposition half, where we started an almost European style of play.

Forrest is more than capable of linking with Tierney in a deeper position, and running at full back's. His problem is sometimes he can't be arsed to do so.

I've no problem with him linking up with others, it's more we need to work him into more isolated areas. Stretch the game for our players, he keeps recieving the ball with his back to goal on the wing with 2/3/4 players around him. He passes it or runs into nowhere. He's not a Nakamura or even a Maloney or McGeady who were quite happy doing that. He's a guy who likes to get one on one. That's when he's by far at his best.

We're treating him as if he's the exact same player as Commons instead of playing to his strengths.

I started this thread at end of July.
I hoped i was wrong about Forrest but based on comments this month on here it's still the same old Forrest.
Only turns it on when he can be arsed to do so.
Hope he goes in this January transfer window as long as new good players are brought in.

With the dross we do have in the squad, Forrest would be far down my list to go. He has his uses.

    There's part of the problem.
He shouldn't have to be defending at all.
He should be running past the opposition defenders and getting decent or better than decent crosses into our forwards.

Every winger needs to help out their fullback.
