As the title says I am worried about next season. I cannot see us getting into the champs league group stages, mainly because lennon will not be able to defeat the likes of Zenit and Sevilla. He may have won 8 out of 9 games but the games he did win were relatively stress free with the exception of the old firm. Celtic Park was empty for the majority of the games and the game he lost was the most important- against Ross County:97:.

So without the champions league we will have another season of competing for the league and cups. The huns are not looking great either but Smith rarely makes a bad siging and he has 5m to strengthen. Us on the other hand have money but are looking at a has been centre half who is wanting to be on 40k a week at the age of 35 and Jimmy Bullard who is a great player but again will take a huge wage and seems to spend most of the time in the physios room rather than on the pitch! I could go on and on i.e another asian dud for shirt sales but il rap it up :icon_mrgreen:

To summarise, unless we go for players that are going to know what it means to pull on the hoops i cannot for the life of me see us having a successful season next term. what's your thoughts ?

i get what you mean - i think next season is make or break. There is still a lot of work to do and i guess we will know by Christmas what direction our season, and indeed our club, is going.

Yes, but do you give a f**k about the europa league ? We will get no money out it and will maybe get to a knockout round, it doesnt excite me tbh.

No need to worry. It is not Mowbray at the helm anymore. We can beat Zenit and Sevilla. They are not invincible.

Granted no one knows the shape of the squad, I wouldn't worry yet.

And I don't get how this season is any different from any other. It's not make or break. We'll finish first or second as usual. The Old Firm ebbs and flows. If we don't win it this year it doesn't mean Rangers are going to win it for the next decade. Celtic will always have plenty of support and will always be competing with Rangers for the title. Don't see how this season will change that whether we win the league or don't.

While I loved Lenny as a player if he thinks Murphy will be a good signing he is making a massive mistake.

Hopefully its just rumours because the majority of the players we have been linked with would be good players and do a good job for us (Bullard, Campbell)

Im worried about next season, I think we will go out the CL very early (Hope and pray with everything im wrong) and knowing our luck get put in a hard group in the europa league. I look across what could be our backline for next season and im not exactly convinced

    Mulgrew LB

Great at free kicks but has massive trouble defending, our only competition for his signature was Sheff utd which doesnt look promising really.

    Jos Hooiveld

We dont know just how good he is yet because we havent saw him in action very much, early signs say he might spend alot of time in the treatment room, people already say he will partner Campbell next season but how do we know if he will do better than Loovens?

    Sol Campbell

If signs Lenny has allowed him time off so he could miss our crucial CL qualifier, hopefully will be the experience in the backline we need but question marks have to be asked about his age and lack of pace

    Cha

Looks like he's signing for us, looks very pacey and strong but we only know him from WC, has absolutely no experience in the spl, he dont know if he will have trouble settling in Scotland

What scares me is between our entire backline only Mulgrew has played a consistent amount of games in the spl, the other 3 might be completely flung together and asked to defend, this could backfire in our faces, while I 100% agree changes had to be made to the backline have we not over done it,
could we not give Hinkel a new contract and keep him as our RB?

Of course I could be completely wrong, we might sign a better LB, Campbell could very well be the dominant CB we have needed since Balde left and Cha might settle instantly and be a hit. The point im trying to make is Lenny is gambling on a completely new defence working, Walter Smith will keep the same defence and he knows that they will be hard to break down and knows that in Weir and Bougherra he has possible the best 2 defenders in the spl playing for him once again, Rangers will be hard to score against just like last season, can we say the same about us? I hate talking negative but to shorten my answer very much yes I am concerned

We lost the league by 8 points (I think) and those 8 points were all lost stupidly. Get rid of stupid losses like that, hold onto leads and were champions. I'm sure we will be.

Only six points mate. If it hadn't been for that stupid * Mowbray we would have won it.

That's the one. Exactly. 6 points and it was a terrible season. Those points lost at St Mirren, Kilmarnock and Hibs at home were the difference. All stupid losses that shouldn't have happened and wont next season. Especially since we will be stronger than last year.

im uncertain as to what we can do....as i dont have a clue as to what our first team will be......our only real goalscorer in the last 6 months has * off back to the safety of epl mediocrity. and our manager hasnt been over the course or distance as a manager. afraid......no........ interested....definetly....cant recall going into a new season with so much uncertainty.

We gave away 39 goals last year. 33 of them goals under Mowbray :54:
So much for expansive football, that leaves the back door wide open. If we seal that sieve, and get someone like Bullard to pull the strings in midfield, and have someone like Stokes and Rasmussen to fire the bullets, it will be a different ball game this year. I am convinced of it.
