I heard from a friend a few weeks before the last game that Dermot Desmond knew Strachan was leaving and that he'd already lined up Alan Curbishley as the next gaffer. His name was mentioned for a spell but has vanished from the papers..(Perhaps on purpose by the board to deflect attiontion by leaking other names???)..Anyone heard the same or is this just another goldfish bowl rumour???

They could leak other names to the papers as a smokescreen to take attention off Curbishley

Because they leak names then the person they really want seems like the last person they are after . And it lets them get on with the business of getting the man they want without added pressure of the media.

Interestingly, probably the most accomplished cv of those mentioned.

Just seems a bit boring to me though?

Guy has a good CV and nearly was made manager of Engerland a few years back. No comparison between him and most of the others suggested. Similar idea to McClaren etc.

Curbs is probably the most experienced from the list of managers I've seen rumored in the press. He's got a similar record to what MON and WGS had before coming up here too.

He is a very competant guy. Watching him operate in the "Old firm gold fish bowl" would be very interesting. We could do worse, I just hope he would not be bashed for being Southern English!

If we do not go for the Martinez/Billic young type manager then this has to be the man.

Curbishley has an amazing CV, considering the meagre resources he had to work with at Charlton.

I would definitely have him, but I suspect it will not be him.

I said a week ago if I had to guess at the next manager I would say Tony Mowbray, and that is still my guess.
