Its time we bought 3 players who are proven quality, its fine this season we bought nearly a new squad which we had to budget for, so we couldnt spend any big transfer fees (ie. over 2 mill) This summer its time to invest on a very good ST and CB at least and not being afraid to spend 3-4 mill on them. Of course its a gamble, but if they are proven goalscorers in their league etc then its worth going in for him. As much as i dont want to say it we missed out on "their" striker last summer, no matter what anyone says he is the best st in the league not hooper, he was worth the money they somehow managed to find to buy him. That begs the question if they can spend 4 million on a player why cant we, if they are in such a financial mess.

Before anyone says look what happened with Fortune i dont think many people expected him to score barrels up here, from day one it could be seen he was more a link up player, a totally wrong buy. Judging by the signings lennon has made thus far i wouldnt hesitate giving him permission for one or two big transfer fee buys this summer. Im fed up with second or third choice players!

I can't disagree with anything you've said mate, it bugs the * out me they were able to buy Jelavic at £4 million whilst skint. The problem is Celtic are the richest club in SPL , but for 3 years have somehow managed to lose league to The huns who are skint. If we don't win the league this year, it'll mean we won't get into Champions League, which would be very difficult financially for Celtic, meaning they'd have gone 3 yrs without cl football.

I agree. We definetly need a striker to partner Hooper - who despite his recent awful performances I still rate as our number 1 striker. We also need to get some decent centre backs, I hear Kelvin Wilson is coming in. Even though he is no world beater, it might add something to the team that is sadly lacking. From the beginning of the season I felt we had too many gaps in our side despite the quality we have in certain positions. We still don't have a solid unit.

Gutted after that result guys, but its not over yet by a long shot one draw from they're last 3 games and its up for grabs:86:.in worst case scenario and they * win it,the important thing for next season is to try and hold on to our good players eg:- kayal, izzy, commons, hooper etc.And really try and push to get into europe then we can hopefully spend some cash and bring a better calibre of player in and really build a force to hump wee ally's team next year and compete in europe to a good standard:50:

Its such a joke, I cant believe for 3 years we havent been able to stop them in their state. If had managed to Celtic could of been dominating for years, as it is now they are getting back onto their feet and will be even stronger next season!

Its just fustrating seeing transfer windows pass buy without at least one top quality signing, we seen what robbie keane did in his here, we dont need him but it shows what a proper striker can do here, they buy Jelavic we buy Daryl Murphy, we just seem to be looking for the cheapest players around that clubs dont want rather than looking for a top player for a club in other leagues who is a realistic target

More to the point this year we dont need a revolution just an evolution, we have a core here now add a few here and there to improve it and that means spending some money!

Spend big is on few players is right!!! :50:
    Remove the deadwood!
Buy Doyle or Long - 4/5mil
    Buy Faye - Free?
    Buy a proven centre half - 4mil
Cheap Back-up ball winner, when Kayal doesnt play we have nobody in midfield to get us the ball back. Someone like a non-permanently injured Stevie Reid would do the job.

We brought in around 11 players this season, have the biggest squad and wage bill in the SPL by far and yet we still may not win the league?

I hate to say it but Walter Smiths tactic of spending his budget on quality rather than quantity may just win again....

Well tbf its not all about the price commons how much did he cost... Izzy and kayal we just need to find the right type of players.. And we are playing in one of the shitest leagues in the world you cant expect to bring in players like the way we did 8 year or so. We have a team who are new to the league rangers have a team who have been in this situation many times before

We need to sort out the centre back once and for all.I can't believe a club like Celtic can have so many poor cb.for all the praise our defenders have been getting there is no getting away from the fact they are * and they were just papering over the cracks.McManus Caldwell bobo loovens mulgrew hooivelt rogne and Maj none are good enough.Although to be fair to Mick and heed atleast they delivered the goods

To be fair, we've really had to build a new team this season and since we can't afford to have £4-£5 millions quality buys in every position we've had to look at the cheaper options. In this scenario Lennon has done a good job. But next season, if we can keep the nucleus of our current team and get rid of the guff, we can maybe try to bring in 1 or 2 players quality players. But 2 seasons without any real shot in Europe has made things so much difficult for us and I fear our budget will be tight unless extra cash can be found.

It will be embarrasin to lose the lge to them again.and thats why i think winning the cup wont even be enough for the likes of izzy and kayal to want to stay.and if we have no money comin in i see the board sayin to lenny sorry but we need money if you want to buy.also lenny showed his huge inexperience with some decisions over the yr and last nite his substiutions were *.as for the pen incident at ibrox he should have been tellin sammy to * away from it,another pen last nite and look commons scores.very angry and upset today

Maybe someone should write a letter to Wayne Rooney and Rio Ferdinand plead for them to come up here just for one year. :icon_mrgreen:

That way we might actually win a trophy worth winning and send the huns packing once and for all, those * don't deserve the league this year and I can't stand the thought of being laughed at by them again :31: Still hurting about last night.

I've no doubt we will sell Kayal and Izaguirre, put the cash in the bank, and leave it there. The Board have no interest in bringing in quality players, or an experienced manager - sadly, Lennon was responsible for most of last night's jokers. The money for Aiden's transfer?? Where did that go?

Life in the Slow Lane - that's what Martin O'Neill said years ago, and he's right. :47:No title, no CL money, no quality - it's a downward spiral.

Spot on. You buy 1 million players and you normally get that ability which isn't good enough. Stokes, Murphy and Samaras were never going to bring us the title.

Not good enough. I'm disappointed when any of these players start matches.

this season we spent actually very little, but got lucky with guys like izzy commons and kayal. im sure not one fan had heard of izzy, knew mutch about kayal or thought commons would do as well as he did.

our team has the potential to be very good. add 2 QUALITY CB's, atleast 1 QUALITY goal scorer (preferably a big man), and possibly a QUALITY GK. id settle for that right now. spend £4 million-ish on each, ensuring that we know that they can stand up and be counted when the league title is on the line and that they have proven quality.

if we bring in such players then this team could go a long, long way. shame that PL and DD dont see this.

I wrote on this very forum on the 31st of Jan 2011, that, this is the day Mr. Lawwell has handed over the SPL title to the Huns, cause of his failure to spend some money & sign a quality CB.
Would have loved it, at the end of the season if all you lads had come on this forum to ridicule me about this statement if we had won the league.
But no, my stupid statement has come true & am truly gutted & do apologise to all on this forum.
But, one other thing I'd like to add,
MR. PETER LAWWELL ARE YOU WATCHING? AND HOPE YOU CAN SLEEP WELL AT NIGHT.

    Hail Hail:shamrock:

    Celtic overall
Forster wont be staying - hes been poor lately anyway so no real miss there. Kieran Westwood on a free transfer from Coventry, seems too good an opportunity to miss out, so hope we're in for him! Kelvin Wilson coming on a free will probably start id imagine. Mulgrew isnt good enough. Majstorovic was exposed for pace last night, but hes the only real commanding centre-half we have. Sell Loovens, O'Dea, Hooiveld and we definitely need another centre-half, perhaps Ashley Williams from Swansea should they miss out on promotion?? Hes been in the team of the year the past 2 seasons.

Maloney isnt good enough. Injuries have taken their toll on him, and hes not going to be the player one would have expected. A good offer, i would let him go. Brown and Ki, i am not a fan of! Any good offer for them, i would also sell. McCourt should feature more often, if not starting. Ledley and Kayal are 2 players missed. Would like to see us bring in Michael O'Connor from Scunthorpe. A self-confessed celtic fan, hes also highly-rated midfield player. Surely would add heart as well as ability. Stokes and Hooper have been quiet of late, even if they have been finding the net, and we have no striker to push them. Samaras, Murphy arent good enough either. Should be sold. Perhaps look to bring in Shane Long, David Goodwillie, Rickie Lambert or something.
