Don't think it can be denied that despite our league position and all the stats etc, that we have found consistency in terms of performance hard to come by.

What would you put it down to? For me there are a number of things.

For one, I think teams have become accustomed to how we play. Our lack of a 'plan B' if you like is clear (see today for instance). Injuries as well. Our luck has been howling.

Rodgers needs to take some responsibility though. I think he has changed the side far too often and tried to be too experimental at times. I mentioned it as well elsewhere but he could learn a bit from the way Clarke set his side up today in terms of Europe, not domestically. I know he doesn't want to compromise his style but he can't be so stubborn at times.

The defence - both the shape and the players we have - is still a concern too. Hendry, time will tell. Same with Compper. I just worry that he is perhaps too focused on attacking players and is leaving the backline to the last minute to sort. Majority of it is still from before his reign started here. That was one of the complaints Liverpool fans had about him.

Overall, we shouldn't overreact. But performance have to improve and we need to mix it up. The amount of sideways and backward passing today was nauseating.

Definitely been far too inconsistent, can only recall maybe 2/3 excellent performances in the league this season.

Obviously we’ve been missing several key players, but making ge league far tighter than it should be, 8 points most likely fs

Definitely far from being as fluent this season.

Wrecked with injuries to our most creative players, players off form (some of whom I think don't want to be here, or think that they just need to turn up - lack of hunger).

Still though, good campign thus far, just need some players to get the finger out, Rodgers needs to tell the guys to be a bit more direct.

Forgot to say about players from last season not turning up either.

Armstrong, Dembele, Griffiths, Roberts, Sinclair, Lustig to name the main ones have all struggled in their own way at times whether through injury or performance.

This season was inevitably going to be some sort of anti-climax in comparison to last season, due to the high standards set.

Injuries haven't helped and neither did fatigue (before the winter break). Those have been the two main factors for me. Fatigue can't excuse today, I just think Clarke got the better of Rodgers and Killie played very well.

    It’s a concern.
For me, the difference in performance levels between last season and this is even bigger than our results would suggest.
Injuries haven’t helped but far too many flat performances.

Today was a perfect storm, Killie narrowed their pitch, tactical were better, managed the game better & looked stronger..
We were sloppy with the ball, unlucky with injuries and looked really inexperienced in our decision making.

In general we have had a frustrating time with injures and haven’t hit the heights as we did last season. However I like the type of player we have brought in, we are young and have plenty of room for development..

There's nothing wrong with Rodgers being out thought, he's only human for goodness sake!

Even the great Wullie Maley, Jock Stein, Martin O'Neill, even Lennon were all beaten by teams like Kilmarnock etc.

Been plenty of games this season where we’ve been lucky to come away with the points. Tiredness and injuries definitely played their part but I thought we were poor against Partick Thistle, poor against Hibs and shocking today. Was hoping we’d be blowing teams away after losing the undefeated record and then after the winter break but it still looks like we’re coasting a bit

One of the most annoying aspects of our play this season has been the way we leave our creative players isolated.

It's evident with Forrest and Sinclair all the time and will begin to be with Musonda as well no doubt.

We leave them with 2 men on them and the likes of Brown and Ntcham are too static and not giving an option for a one two. We can't possibly expect them to beat players single handedly time and time again. It's one of the reasons Sinclair has struggled for overall performance this season.

Movement up top in general is just...well inconsistent and it's hampering us.

Biggest blockade is the individual performances from certain players, mainly Sinclair, Armstrong, Dembele, and for a short spell late in 2017; Griffiths, and having those guys absent for spells has killed us because we rely on them so much.

I also think that Rodgers changing the side by 2-3 players (especially the midfield), has destroyed any possibility of getting a consistent team oriented attack going.

Don't agree with the lack of a plan B tho, I think while our mindset may still stay the same, Rodgers has be more open to using different strikers, different number 10's, and different formations. We've gone with 2 strikers a few times, as well as 3 at the back to facilitate more wide emphasis. The ineffectiveness of it can't be solely placed on BR.

When it comes down to it, our best players havent been our best players this season.

I know it was posted to your comment, but my response was more a general one.

What I was meaning was fair play to Clarke, he set his team up well (like he has done most of his time at Kilmarnock) and we never took our chances.

It's happened since the beginning of time since football was created, so it's not some sort of shocking happening that results like this can happen :50:

Can't really argue with anything you've said. Constant changes to the starting XI, injuries, no plan B, predictable football etc.

Most games we can get away with it because we have better individual players, and we have had a few games where we've just been excellent and blown the other team away. But there's been a lot, a lot, of really bad performances this season.

Blochairnbhoy was saying earlier that we haven't won 4 league games in a row yet this season? Sorry but that's just not good enough.

Players are often described as being out of form or not performing to last season's standards.

The main problem is that the players can't get enough game time to build up any form as there seems to be some sort of persistent injury problems with key players.

In particular, Roberts, Rogic, Griffiths and Dembele.

Our best attacking unit last season was

    Roberts Rogic Sinclair

    Dembele or Griffiths

How often have we been allowed to play those players injury-free or in form this season?

He does use different set ups and formations yeah. However with plan B I mean in terms of not being able to go direct etc. Not just in the air lumping it of course but even faster more direct passing on the deck.

The back and forth side to side passing happens too often when we are struggling. I know Killie set up well and deserve huge credit but it happens even when we win.

Ruthlessness from last season has often been missing.

Don’t think the absolute pumpings we took in the champions league helped much either. Bound to affect confidence.
