Usually I would be the first to jump and defend honour or what have you, eventhough I hate fighting, but I feel that recently I have seen the light somewhat. I'm just back from Ibiza and the way they do things over there is so different. In the right places (eg. Not San Antonio) the people are among the nicest, most friendly people in the world and they never seem to have any problems with anyone in general.

I feel like in order to succeed here and not end up crazy or in jail or both, you need to take a step back from * who try it with you.

Was standing outside a pub in Largs this weekend, its known to get a bit rough and rowdy in there on Friday and Saturday nights but even so its a good laugh mostly. My girlfriend went outside for a * and a wee ned started annoying her and saying disgusting things to her. I came outside and the bam starts saying how she was well up for it before I came out etc and I just totally ignored him doing the usual "is that right mate aye, good *" etc and to be fair his mates were really nice guys saying to me well done for not taking the bait hes just a bit *. Normally, I would have dragged him on to the concrete and kicked the * out of him, but somehow now I feel this isnt the way.

The way is to ignore these wee * who try to take the * and just let it pass you by... its not worth bothering yourself over because no matter what, your never going to change the world and the people who are in it, so don't become one of them, just ignore them and it always fairs better.

He started trying to shake my hand after it saying "aww am just kiddin mate yer hevvy sound n that" so I squeezed his hand really hard and the wee wimp was like "whit ye tryin tae break ma haun fur that wis sore", just said I was giving him a firm handshake like men do.

Bottom line : Don't take the bait from * who want to cause trouble, you only end up MORE annoyed and angry at the end of it.

good post mate yeah i agree! i hate fighting also! but i tend to lose it easily if anyone comes the *. most of the time ill freak out but end up telling them to * off and walk away. the bottom line is ,if someone starts their pish with me when im in a * mood? then * them ill kick the * out them and i dont care if its wrong tbh. it only seems when im like that ill fight strange.

I know exactly what you mean man. Its like, people just want to cause trouble, start talking pish just to annoy you...the only way to win against these wanks is to ignore them and walk away, I know its a bit of a cliche but ive found it to be very true. I would end up more angry at the end of it all if I lose it and start fighting.

the one thing you have to remember mate! no matter where you are in the world? there is always a * * who thinks their hard. and its * like that who can spoil a good night out for people.

    interesting.

i just try to keep away from that *, never know what some people are on really. sad thing is you can't go out and have a good time w/o some malaka trying to be hard pumped up on steroids.

but * it, if people want to push their luck and be idiots they only have themselves to blame.

Correct, you have absolutely nothing to gain from battering a ned with a loudmouth other than a jail sentence and/or a tan mark across your jaw.

Unfortunatly I often feel the same way as well mate, but then I just think how pathetic they are and that that is what they were probably looking for anyway.

I try to avoid confrontation, due to my job I come up against confrontation almost on a daily basis....I've learn how to diffuse it though, or be able to spot a problem and nip it in the bud before it kicks off.

Good advice. Better to avoid trouble if you can. The caveat is if your back is up against the wall and you have no other option.I remember my old karate instructor Tommy Morris telling me that it is better to walk away from a confrontation, rather than get involved. You get no medals for being a hero.

Fight if you have too, otherwise look for a way to circumvent it. Life
is too short to take any unnecessary chances. Play the percentage game always.

You get the attention seeking type that start it when they're in a group but wouldn't try it one on one. Just trying to impress their mates I suppose. But it's better not to fight unless you have to e.g some idiot tries to jump/mug you.

Don't get me wrong, if someone breaks into my home, I will go for them.

Luckily for me it is normally just verbal abuse...been the odd threat of violence, but that doesn't happen that often.

I agree with what you say that there is no point in taking unnecessary risks. Weight up the situation and try to deal with it with a calm head.....if that fails well...you're just going to have to get your hands dirty.

I hate fighting and absolutely am not a violent person at all. No one ever really starts any * with me though considering I am 6'3''.

That being said, if some wee * done that to my girl, then rubbed it in my face? I doubt very, very much I would have had the same restriaint as you.

Well done for the restraint, these brave guys don't fight clean and would probably be carrying something in case it kicked off.

All is not lost as the next person he gets smart with might not have your patience and * rag doll him all over the pavement.
