If you could be Desmond???

For the first time in our history we have a real billionaire at our helm but the biscuit tin is as tightly shut as it was in the bad old days when they used to announce a 70'000 crowd as 27'000 to save on paying the tax.

We couldn't afford to keep Bellamy, we can't afford Tymoschuk, we couldn't even afford * Hasselbaink.

What is the use in having this rich b@stard if he doesn't give a * how the team performs? Look at Walker at Blackburn and Shepherd&Co at Newcastle. They are football men who love their club and want them to win, hence the £Ms they pump in. And no need to even mention Abrahmovich.

So, what does our big spender do? F@ck all is the answer. He bought into us to get us into the Prem so he could double his share value and take a nice little earner out. But now he knows he's f@cked and we will NEVER play in the EPL. Will he get out? Not till he's made his money back.


But that's just my opinion, what does everyone else think of him and what would you do for Celtic if you had £1bn?

As a fitba man, and a so called Celtic man, I have a low opinion of him.
Then again he disny know me?
Come to think of it I have a low opinion of others at Celtic Park NOT taking the club forward.
I genuinely feel that the majority shareholder, Lawwell, and the rest of the Board are the route cause of Celtic NOT going forward football wise.

Desmond is only a shareholder not the club owner. We are a PLC, he can do what he likes with his own money. He's the only person investing any sizable amounts of money. He happens to have 42% because of this problem. Other PLC football club have several people investing large amounts, we only have one and some people somehow think that its his fault.

He cant invest big money anymore unless a) he does a takeover, Celtic is no longer a PLC b) Other moneybags come in and 'dilute' his stake in the club.

Desmond wants other investors to come in but nobody else is bothered

 

Dermot Desmond is a crook who bankrolled Charles J Haughey an even bigger crook and who in recent times has cashed in over £600 million of his assets, Celtic is a trophy to him and he is as committed to Celtic as much as the man in the moon.

 

Dempsey, I would accept that if he had stated his purpose from the start but he said he had bought into Celtic for
"Purely emotional reasons"

A £2.3M loss in 7 years is not very emotional if you ask me.
If we were real CL contenders, he would make his money back but he won't take the £20-£30M risk to get us there and the appointment of Strachan is evidence of that.

 

personally i cant stand the man.. i was at a home game last year and two lads went to speak to him and he blanked them big time just walked by with his driver puffing on a big cigar,,,, to me that sums the man up not interested.................

 

i seen a thing in the paper a while back which said desmond is the 3rd richest man involved in football in britain! yet we can't affoard any decent players

 

yeh and he knackers our team flying all over the place to raise a couple of million.

 

if i could be desmond for a day , id be bankrupt coz all my money would have been spent on quality for celtic imo ...

alternative for desmond ... keep 50 mill or watever for himself wich most people would never spent in thier lifetime anyway .... then pump the rest of the zillions into my team.

 

I wouldn't expect a Chelsea style investment from Desmond, but I don't think that any Celtic man, with his kind of money would see Celtic go for Bargain basement players.

 

yup Desmond is the 3rd richest in british football with £850million to his name. position might have changed cos of the pompey guy i duno.

 

No businessman in their right mind invests in a soccer club trying to make their money back. If DD wanted to make money there are far easier business ways to make return on investments than a soccer club. He's put in his money because he is a celtic fan

Since you are probably the president of the apologist club, I can understand why you so deperately defend Desmond, at every turn and corner, I am aware that he doesnt need the money from Celtic business wise, but those in charge including him, have all the perks and luxury that can be attached to being at Celtic Park, and litterally live in the lap of luxury at all that Celtic Park Stadium affords!
They sir are NOT in the same class as the Celtic fans before or now throughout Celtics history!

 

well said sir, and also just imagine (this excludes Dempsey) how lovely it is for him to bring all his clients to Celtic Park on match days and wine and dine them and feed their need to toady around footballers, and then pull off another deal. I said before Celtic is a trophy for him as it has been for business throughout the history of football

 

The guy is a billionaire for * sake surely 10 million out of his wallet would be like you and I taking about 100 quid out of our wallet its not going to skin him he would probably get it all back in a few days interest.
