.....what kind of full-back would you like us to buy?

Would you like to see us sign a full-back who was defensively solid but didn't offer anything special going forward? Or would you like to see us buy another full-back who gets forward well but can be exposed defensively?

A free boot in the baws to anyone that says they want both :56:

Personally I would like to see us buy a full-back who was defensively solid for a change. I think we have more than enough creativity and goalscoring potential with the midfielders and forwards we have. What we need is to keep the back door closed more often. The addition of a defensively sound full-back might also make our centre-backs look better as well. So it's a defensively solid LB for me. :50:

Do you think he's the answer?

I remain a bit unconvinced by him so far.

hmmm, i remain unconvinced, that debacle at Aberdeen will live long in the memory though he's good going forward and has a better delivery than Fox (remember him!?) or Naylor ever had; defensively, i remain to be convinced but hopefully he can :50:

A defender should be good at defending as it is their 1st priority. Anything more is a bonus

Braafheid just doesn't give me the impression he wants to be at Celtic past May. Like obonfanti said, I also am sceptical about his defensive qualities.

That's pretty much how I'm feeling at the moment. I just want a full-back who can tackle well and has the positional sense to cover the centre-backs. Attacking full-backs are great but if they can't defend then they're a weakness that can always be exposed.

That game against Killie in the cup Braffheid got ripped left, right and centre by Tiawo or wateva u call him. So no Braff isnt the answer he's a donkey in disguise.

    Joe Mattock or Lee Wallace.

Not a fan of Braafhied, thinks he is better than he actually is.

Wallace has looked good when I've seen him play Mcgeady but my gut feeling is Braffheid has yet to show his full worth to us and I feel we can probably get him for a good bit cheaper than what Hearts want for Wallace..

A few years back we were linked with the guy Jay Mceveley who'd just broken into the Scotland squad.. I think he was a left back who could play centre half and looked the real deal.. An attacking defender who could defend as required but I haven't heard a single thing about the guy since then..

Whoever is targeted as the answer , I'd guess we don't want to be spending any more than the £2m that was recouped from the sale of Fox..

I am glad that you are finally coming round to the fact that we need two solid defensive minded full backs. It took a long time coming but it came nevertheless. Sand dancers like Hinkel and Braafheid are not what is required in the SPL. Not if you have honourable intentions of winning the league anyway. You need two big pacy full backs who can attack AND defend in modern day football.

Personally I would like to see us sign the two Heart's boys Lee Wallace and Craig Thomson for the job in the summer. They would fit the bill in my estimation.

Um......excuse me pal but I've said for a long time that I'd like to see us have full-backs who could defend first and attack second. I have been one of the more critical people of Andreas Hinkel and his defensive abilities on this board. Get your facts right. :bbpd:

OK my apologies :50: I stand corrected. I must be thinking of some other bounder on this board. :icon_mrgreen:

I will not embarrass you by casting up your old posts. I am not like that. :56:

Cast away. You'll find I've spoken about defensively sound full-backs for a while.

One subject I do agree with you on. :icon_mrgreen:

I haven't seen the last 2 games live, only on tele, and after the fact at that, however in my mind the biggest question regarding Braafheid has been regarding his positioning, however I do not know if this is simply a defect in his game or if it is because he was playing behind Kamara, who is not a natural winger, hence doesn't track back and tended to drift out of position himself, leaving Braafheid exposed.

It is simply astonishing that in 5 years either our scouts have failed to identify the LB we need, or that the club has been unable to secure terms.

I'd imagine if Shakespeare's 'Richard' a Celtic fan he would decry: 'A LB, a LB, my kingdom for a LB'.

Seems pretty unanimous then.......we want a full-back who can defend properly. Take note Tony please. :icon_mrgreen:
