How far in the champs league???

How far do u think we will go in the champions league this year?????
Personally i hink we will get by the group stages

 

Realistically, i think we'll get into the group stage, have some great home games but marginally miss out on the next stage.
excitement and thrills, so near yet so far.
Its gonnae be a great season... the title will come home again

 

it all depends on the group we get

 

After seeing us get a point at Barca, I would be happy to see us go one further and get our first win as long as we get back to winning ways at home that should see us through.

By the way any other peeps out there who went to Barca?
does anyone know how many of us were there?

I really, really have a good feeling about the CL this season!!! We could have the easiest group in years (if we get there). Think about it, IMO the hardest group Celtic could possibly get is Barcelona, Werder Bremen and Panathinaikos because we're in pot 2. Bear in mind thats the hardest group we could get, so what if luck is on our side and we get an average or easy group?

yeah it depends on a lot of things but mainly on who we buy within the next few days. I'd say if we get Nakamura AND Dellas or whoever to shore up the centre of the park we could look at maybe semi-final!!!!!!! Well I can drean can't I.

 

I'd be happy with just getting into the group stage as this will be a season of transition, I feel we will do well enough domestically but in europe I dont feel we have a strong enough squad

 

hard to say, if we stay clear of an injury crisis id be pretty optomistic of our chances of going beyond the group stages. after that its anyones guess.

call me mad but, i've had a dream that we're gonna win the thing.
had a dream before the away leg in basle, it was seeing paul lambert lifting the uefa cup, i remember thinking that would be great but would prefer to get into the champions league. then on the day of the final the daily record had a computerised image of my * dream.

 

for me playing in europe is just a bonus

Is anyone aware of the situation with the 3rd qualifying round and possible opponents?

If Celtic qualify then we are definately in pot 2 and so will avoid the likes of Juventus and Chelsea. The huns are in pot 4, where they belong!

I think it'll be a tough job to just get there. If we do manage it though, who knows we could make the next phase after the group stages. But can i just say Varga, Balde, Camara is not a defence that will be winning the champions league or getting anywhere near it imo

 

i think we have a superb chance of goin' all the way to at least the final.

 

A lot depends on who we get in the group. In previous years, the Scottish media have written off teams without having seen them play, remember the " pub team " FC Basle, we were slated after being knocked out of the CL qualifiers by them , only for them to progress to the knock out stages and beat Liverpool home and away.
Last year it was Shaktar, again another useful team, we were expected to beat them home and away, but they proved to be the better team.
Here's hoping we get an easier group this year, it will be intresting to see how WGS copes with the more tactical game in Europe, will he change his formation, or simply try to play his attacking style and hope we score more goals than our opposition.
Obviously we want at least one big name, Barca, Real, Juve, Milan, Bayern or the like, in recent years we have played the majority of these teams and not been embarrassed, I'm sure nobody in Europe wants to play at CP after the recent reputation the ground has. Can't wait to see the bhoys qualify and hopefully get a decent run in Europe, and perhaps WGS can build on MON reputation.

 

I want to be at the Final... CL or Uefa,

this is madness. we've got 2 qualifying rounds to play just to get there and under the guidance of MON we only managed 1 point away from home in all CL group games!!! fair enough, we've POTENTIALLY got a better attack this season but we dont have a defence. i'll be glad just to get to the group stages and get a domestic trophy.
