I posted earlier saying I think Hinkel should be taking penalty kicks and it got me thinking about his overall scoring ability. He gets very little chances during games to have a shot but from the way he's looked recently it looks like he really wants a goal.

I think it's time he got one and his defensive responsibility when corners are getting taken should be given to somebody else cos i think if we had him in the box when corners are coming in and the ball were to fall to his feet he could be very useful with it :50:

Ive noticed most attempts he has are with his weaker left foot, doesnt seem to get much opportunity on his right.

Personally speaking I would rather see him defend better, after all his first priority as a right back should be to defend, not scoriong or setting up goals. His mistake at Motherwell cost us the second goal, I wished Strachan would try to sigh him for Boro.

ye lol def would, he isnt the RB defender in the world by any means, i was surpised how bad he was defending when i first watched him always fouling, put it this way if you want your full backs to be attacking you have to be willing to cover the space they leave behind which is what crosas and nguemo shoudl be doing, mcgeady and hinkel are both joint assists in the SPL both play on the same side, wi wouldnt besuprised if the goals we loast were mainly from that side either

can not believe people still are divided about hinkel, personally i rate him as one of our best right backs i've seen in the last around 20 years!

as for people saying he can't defend, they must have been closing their eyes at points during the motherwell game, he put in the tackle of the game in the box to prevent a motherwell attack.

his attacking ability is rightfully not even worth debating, his amount of assists speak for themselves.

Why do people consistently put our own players down even when they're in great form! Hinkel has by and large been one of our most consistently good players since he arrived

Some people are the glass half empty and always want to moan I guess. Sure Hinkel is not the worlds best right back and has aspects of his game that can be weak. But clearly he is a vital part of this Celtic team and clearly he is a very good player. We have major issues in parts of our team. But right back with Hinkel as starter and Wilson as an able back up is not an area we need to address.

Best way to defend is in the oppositions area.

I've defended the guy a lot, but that's 2 weeks in a row he's been caught out, unbelievably with almost the exact same sort of ball today.

    Whats the option though?

    Wilson? Caddis?

    Not for me.

I think the whole defence is just totally out of sorts at the moment, seriously, is ANY defender playing well?

He did the same last week against Motherwell as well and cost us one of the goals. I have said it many times before for a German Internationalist
he is very poor defensively, and we can do a lot better. Most of our goals
conceded this year have came down our right side. It is not rocket science. Opposition managers have been targeting Hinkel's defensive frailities for ages now.

I would like to see us get that Craig Thomson of Hearts for right back.

    Mother of *!!!
    The madness continues....
No Hinkel will not get goals regularly
No he will not score if he goes up for a corner
He relieves himself of defensive duties all the time, instructing him to do it when we have a corner would be madness of the highest order.

    Sleeping today?? He's asleep everyday!!

Also people seem to think he is in the German team regularly or something...he aint

His assists this year are an irregularity...he is 31 and this is the most assists he's ever got in one season in his entire career...he is not some superstar who regularly gets loads of assists

McGeady was doing brilliant on the right, teams doubled up and Hinkel got more space

Now Robson is on the right to cover Hinkel in defense the assists are drying up

Was very poor today but i put this down to Aiden not tracking back as he was worried about picking up a yellow card today , was never tracked back once and left Hinkel wide open , it's not the first time this season that it's happened i think people on here over rate Hinkel he is decent at best ,
