when i have my wireless router connected to the laptop (Toshiba Satellite) and I try to connect the ps3 to the wireless router in the network settings it says obtain ip address time ran out, same on the laptop if im connected to the ps3 on the wireless router the laptop says things about the ip adress, is there any way to bridge the two together

Firstly, use your laptop while the console is off. Once you're online, go to to the start menu, click run, and then type CMD, and click OK. Now type IPCONFIG /ALL

It will give you info, just look out the ip address and default gateway info

Now keep that window open, and then open up the control panel and go into network settings. Then go into the properties of the wifi card, click on internet-protocol (v4) and click properties. Then set a static ip address based on the settings from the CMD window, make sure to slightly alter the ip address. So for example, if the address you saw in the CMD window was 192.168.1.65, set the ip address as something like 192.168.1.70.

Then OK all the windows away.
