He was used as a scapegoat here, only when he left did we realise he was better than most defenders we could sign. Well done to him, always like to see ex Celts do well.

    *!!

Caldwell has been awful every game I've saw him down there, scoring ogs, getting sent off and giving away penalties, the guy is a liability.

Don't get me wrong he can usually spray passes, and tries to be a leader but I for one am glad we got shot of him.

    good for Gary

I saw him both for his abilities, mainly regarding passing from the back, especially later in his career here, as well as his deficiencies.
He had really poor positional discipline and many times would charge out of defense only for the ball to be played to a man running through the gap he had created.

Sickens me people who seem to be willing Caldwell to fail. He has been a big player and OK he has scored OGs and been send off but that is because he has always been in the thick of it and not hiding. They rate him down there and are always going on about his leadership qualities etc so its no surprise he was made captain. I am glad he will at least get a 2nd season in the EPL. A much better player (and the market doesn lie - he is the captain of an EPL side) than all our CHs bar the new Swede (Rogne is potential until proven otherwise). Caldwell was the best our of him, Mick, OD, Loovens etc and its a shame our best has gone.

Apart from a couple of big f ups,he was solid for us.Was good at playing the ball out from the back and we won 2 leagues with him on the team. Was the writer's player of the year in his last season aswell.

if you bothjered to look back at my posts from ages ago, i never wanted him to leave. He was a good defender , would be worth £5-6 m in the current english market

There is a lot of revision going on here about Bombscare Caldwell.
This is the guy who was a walking disaster in our defence and tried to screw us for 25K a week

Just forget the way back home Gary :bbpd:
