Same in my opinion. It's the same trophy in a different named competition. It happens quite a lot with trophies, they get different sponsors and change the name of the trophy. But at the end of the day it's still the same big cup that we won.

It's alot harder to win now though alot of harder teams in it since the group stages came which have stopped celtic every time untill this year.

Reading between the lines when there's no lines can make you look stupid. Where the * did you get the impression that that's my attitude> I know yer angry, but down take it out on me cos I'm not in a better mood!:38:
I just said starting the season with the aim to win the CL will only result in a failed goal, for now at least

If that's negative then the things you've said in the last hour are * hellish (i.e. slagging Naka). You're fishing mate, but you're not going to catch anything today

    Championsleague

Originally known as the European Champion Clubs' Cup, or simply abbreviated to European Cup, the competition began in 1955/56 using a two-leg knockout format where the teams would play two matches, one at home and one away, and the team with the highest overall score qualifying for the next round of the competition. Entry was restricted to the teams that won their national league championships, plus the current European Cup holder. This qualification system continued until 1997. From the 1997/98 season, the rules were changed to provide the cup with more exposure (and the extra sponsorship money that came with it), and to try to make it more "exciting". Teams other than national champions were allowed to compete, based on the relative strength of the football in that nation - from UEFA's point of view, a team finishing second in the Spanish La Liga would be more deserving of an automatic place in the Champions League than a team finishing first in, for example, Polish Orange Ekstraklasa. As a result, the system was restructured to force "weaker" national champions to qualify for the group stages, while other, "stronger" national runners-up would automatically get places.

We won the European Cup, a completely different format to the Champions League but it was the top european competition for clubs at the time and thats the only thing that really matters

In 1967 we only played 9 games in the european cup and the ninth was the final nowadays there is more games to play and with the new league format it is harder to win as it was all knock-out rounds back in the day.

Im not taking anything away from the Lisbon Lions so dont anyone start cos even though we played less games then we had a team ,as im sure you all know , that came from a 30 mile radius of Parkhead which i think is a BIGGER achievement Im just saying its harder nowadays due to both format and no of games.:31:

PS If im wrong about the exact number of games we played in 1967 then feel free to pull me up but im pretty sure it was 9 games:celt_2:
